2003 to 2005
* Facilitated optimization of EHS staffing at 45 plants by implementing a regional internal consulting organization which improved performance on EHS audits and significantly reduced costs associated with personnel, training, and outside contractors.
* Identified, managed and provided technical support and direction for outside contracted services including remediation and acquisition/divestiture assessments.
* Completed EHS management system development, internal auditing, and air/water/waste permitting and compliance assurance projects.
* Customized and facilitated deployment of EHS programs and training throughout the region.
* Assigned by corporate to direct the research and evaluation of Alcoa global EHS information systems, identifying over $23 million in inefficiencies. Benchmarked and developed corporate target condition and action plan for synchronizing EHS systems with those for corporate finance, procurement and HR to minimize costs, while simplifying and increasing effectiveness.

* Designed internal website and automated EHS database reports to minimize resources for performance monitoring and encourage rapid sharing of best practices.
* Developed and deployed systems to all CSI global locations for measuring and improving performance in machine guarding, ergonomics, noise control, risk identification and elimination, EHS internal auditing, and ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 compatible EHS management systems.

* Developed and negotiated major NSR, PSD, and NESHAPS air permits for new surface coating lines, ingot casting operations, and natural gas cofire in a 750 MW coal-burning power plant. Successfully managed administrative challenges to regulatory and permitting actions.
* Participated in writing state regulations for coal sampling and analysis and obtained approval to use real-time nuclear analyzer to drive coal-blending facility, reducing fuel costs by $500,000 per year and improving environmental compliance.
