- Spearheaded the development of 9 major HR initiatives identified to stabilize and revitalize the HR function covering 1,200 National and 200 Expatriate employees.

As a respected HR professional completed significant assignments for such major international companies as Anglo Gold's mining contractor (DTP) at their Geita mine in Tanzania; INCO's Voisey's Bay Project in Newfoundland, Canada.
1999 to 2002 Barrick Gold Corporation Tanzania/East Africa
Project Manager, Human Resources
- As a senior member of the HR team, successfully established the HR function for the start-up of a new underground gold mine and related surface facilities in remote East Africa. Developed and monitored expatriate and national employee administration; established HR policies, employment criteria, recruitment and retention policies and programs, as well as the training and localization programs for Tanzanian employees related to the Bulyanhulu Gold Project employing 200 expatriates, 1,000 nationals and producing 500k oz/year.
- Created the Training & Tanzanianisation program documents for submission to the Tanzanian government necessary to obtain the company's mining License.
- Developed and implemented compensation and benefits programs, for national and expatriate employees, designed to attract and retain top calibre talent. For expatriate employees, developed and implemented terms and conditions of employment, and related personnel policies and procedures.
- Spearheaded the global recruitment program for expatriate and local: management and operations, technical and maintenance teams to facilitate construction, commissioning and start-up of the project. Achieved turnover of less than two percent (2%) in a two-year period. Directed the timely acquisitions of Visas and Work Permits.
1997 to 1999 Greenstone Resources Ltd. Central America and /U.S.A.

- As the company's first HR professional, directed the development and execution of all HR management functions, policies and procedures for Central America and US locations covering 175 expatriates and 850 national employees. Created harmonious labour relations environment and managed labour negotiations; directed the implementation of Total Loss Control programs for 4 new gold mines (start-up), scheduled to produce 1million ounces/annum, located in Panama, Nicaragua and Honduras; and offices in Miami and Denver.

- Directed the implementation of a ¼ million dollar (US), integrated HR information/payroll system for 3,000 employees with annual payroll costs of $15 million for an international mining company's major subsidiary in Indonesia.
- Conducted an exhaustive in-country analysis of HR and labour relation issues for an international Canadian gold mining company pursuant to a joint venture mining operation with the government of Kazakhstan.
- Researched, identified and recruited senior executives and technical staff, with proven and successful track records for positions in North America, Central/ South America, Central Asia, Africa and Asia-Pacific region.
- Advised and prepared recommendations on major HR and related issues for a joint venture gold mining contract with the Kyrgyzstan government. Developed expatriate HR policies and all employment contract terms for 750 employees with an annual payroll of $6 million.

- As Chairman of the Health, Safety and Environment Committee directed the implementation and upkeep of the company wide International Safety Rating System and Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems that reduced annual lost time accident costs by $1,000,000 (Canadian).
