OBJECTIVE: Throughout my career I have always tried to challenge myself by taking on bigger and more demanding roles. I see this job as being a major challenge which I would relish and also having the opportunity to live & work in another country.

2005 to Present day
Aggregate Industries Duntilland Quarry, Scotland
Assistant Quarry Manager

This is the biggest mainland Hard Rock Quarry in Scotland producing approximately 1.2 million tons of crushed Dolerite Basalt per year.

This Quarry operates 22 hours per day on a five day basis. Weekends are kept for general maintenance.

I am responsible for all 33 people in the Quarry and have joint responsibility for a further 69 employees within the main sales & administration offices.

Onsite we have the Main Quarry, 2 coating plants, a concrete plant and a dust washing plant; Although not all the plants are under my direct control.

My main role involves monitoring ALL daily and nightly operations. A major part of my job being any Health & Safety matters and any production issues.

I must liaise with the Sales, Distribution and a number of other internal operating companies.

I have recently obtained my 'Shot firing' certificate and have been focusing my attention in gaining on the job experience by becoming more involved in the designing and the actual blasting process..

2004 - 2005
Barr Quarries The Killoch, Scotland
Assistant Operations Manager

This was a small independent Quarrying company working in a knish market in the South West of Scotland.

This was a supportive role to the Operations Manager to manage the Health & Safety and Operations at 9 sites.

I was heavy involved in the construction and implantation of the Health & Safety Management system which was very successfully completed before moving on from the company.

I worked extremely closely with all 9 Quarry Managers to assist them through the early stages of their Safety, Health & Environmental NVQ level 3 and with the general running of their sites.

2003 - 2004
RMC – Packed Products Scotland & NE England
Northern Region Operations Supervisor

I had full control of 3 small aggregate packing operations

1 site was in central Scotland and the other 2 sites in North East England.

I employed 13 men across the 3 sites that produced 350,000 tons of bagged materials per year.

I was the central figure for all distribution, sales and operational issues due to the remoteness of the sites.

I remained responsible for Health, Safety and Operational issues at all 3 sites and relied heavily on the local sites Supervisors.

2003
RMC Russells Hyndford Quarry, Scotland
Assistant Quarry Manager

This site was the biggest Sand & Gravel Quarry that RMC operated in UK, producing approximately 750,000 tons of sand and gravel per year.

It was a supportive role to the Manger to manage Health & Safety and Operational issues.

The site employed 24 people operating 7 days per week.

2002 - 2003
RMC Russells Kilbarchan Quarry, Scotland
Coating Plant Supervisor

I was the supervisor in a coating plant with responsibility for 5 men.

Along with the site manager, I was involved in operating, monitoring and maintaining the plant so ensure it could produce 6 days per week.

The plant produced approximately 50,000 tons of coated materials per year.

I had to enforce all Health & Safety rules for the site for both Employees and contractors to site.

1998 - 2002
Egger (UK) Ltd Ayrshire, Scotland
Production Controller

After passing the 3 week training/ assessment process in Australia and Germany I returned to Scotland as a representative of Egger as the new plant was being constructed.

I was involved in the initial building & then commissioning of a new Siempelkamp Conti-Roll Chipboard press.

I was the operator of a 33.5 metre press and 50 metre forming station to produce in excess of 2000 m3 of Chipboard per day.

Daily tasks involved the recording of production, downtime and plant checks.
