Safety Department Intern Summer internship assisting the safety department with MSHA inspections, State of Alabama inspections, implementation of 30 CFR, improvements upon site-specific safety regulations. Assisted Safety department and management personnel in rehabilitation and mine rescue operations involved in a post-explosion mine environment.
Small Mine Development Chukar Underground Mine May 2005-August 2005 Carlin, Nevada, USA
Contract Miner Summer employment working for an independent contracting company in Newmont's Gold Quarry facility. Performed all tasks related to underground mining on a seven man mining crew. Tasks included operating Atlas Copco Jumbo Drills, Roof Bolters, MTI Loaders and haul trucks. Gave added insight into the differences between design and implementation of an underground mine.
