02/95 – 10/96 GREENSTONE RESOURCES, Managua, Nicaragua

Manager Nicaraguan Operations and Vice President Bringing on-stream major new (90,000 oz/yr) gold heap leach operation. Duties included:
* Permitting and environmental compliance. Successfully demonstrating to Nicaraguan authorities at local and national levels that environmental standards for project conformed to best US practice at the time and that all risks would be adequately mitigated. Initially skeptical local population also brought around to acceptance of project by close liaison, social programs and starting local newspaper.
* Revival of previously run-down (prior to Greenstone's arrival) open pit mining operation including training of local personnel, rehabilitation of earth tailings dams and introduction of new equipment.
* Participation in in-house feasibility for new 90,000 oz/yr gold leaching operation.
* Overseeing construction of all new facilities for new 90,000 oz/yr gold leaching operation including leach pads and equipment for on-off leaching,
ADR plant, mine and maintenance facilities and new accesses. Selection of contractors, procurement and training.
* Coordination with Nicaraguan government at senior level, Nicaraguan chamber of Mines and local Nicaraguan partners in the project.
* Labor negotiations with official union and maintenance of good relations.
* Implementation of adequate accounting procedures. Budgeting and cost control.
* Management of ore purchases from local independent small miners.
* Participation in board meetings of local Greenstone company as Vice President.

03/94 – 02/95 AMERICAN RESOURCES CORPORATION, Gonzalez, Uruguay

Mine Manager Returning to full production open pit gold mine, closed down prior to my arrival, by leaking tailings dam. Duties included:
* Full rehabilitation of improperly constructed tailings dam to accepted international environmental standards. Selection and management of contractors for this.
* Open pit mine development and rehabilitation in preparation for return to full mine production.
* Close coordination with Uruguayan government authorities to on environmental and safety issues to ensure that new and extremely strict criteria were being met.
* Implementation of adequate accounting procedures. Budgeting and cost control.
* Maintenance of good labor relations and existing labor agreements.
* Operation of crushed granite plant using mine waste granite rock. Sales of crushed rock to local contractors.

10/76 – 03/94 ROSARIO DOMINICANA SA, Dominican Republic

Assistant General Manager (from 1990) Mine Planning Department Head

Providing expatriate management assistance, crisis management and extensive training to local professionals at this large open pit gold mine (nationalized in 1978).
Duties as Assistant General Manager included:
* Crisis management of tailings deposition to avoid mine shutdown bringing online new 17MT earth tailings dam and rehabilitating existing larger tailings dam. Selection and supervision of contractors for this. Coordination with geotechnical consultants.
* Coordination with contractors to bring online large new CIL plant.
* General expatriate management assistance to new local management.
Duties as Mine Planning Department Head included:
* All mine planning short, medium and long term.
* Creation of computerized mine planning system.
* Participation in sulfides project feasibility study (for 9Moz sulfide ore-body).
* Detailed mine engineering for haul roads, drainage and environmental mitigation.
* Training of local professionals.

03/75 – 10/76 AUSTRALIAN ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION, Australia

Drilling Engineer Responsible for all drilling operations in uranium exploration program in the Northern Territory, Australia. Duties included:
* Selection and supervision of drilling contractors.
* Selection, purchase and operation of Commission owned drills.
* Providing engineering assistance to Commission exploration geologists.
