Consulting and Contract Geologist – Africa
Since going independent I have done contract work for AngloGold, Avgold, Impala Platinum, Lonmin Platinum, Barrick Gold, Placer Dome, Falconbridge and a number of junior companies. In recent times valuable experience has been gained in varied aspects of hydrothermal and alluvial gold deposits, layered igneous complexes, the Bushveld Complex, alluvial diamonds and heavy sand deposits. Countries where I have first hand experience include South Africa, Namibia, Central African Republic, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Uganda, Mali and Tanzania.
Involved with the following projects:
* Re-evaluation of a carbonate hosted gold deposit in the Transvaal Supergroup – South Africa (January 2006 – May 2006)
* Member of the scoping study team at Kabanga Nickel deposit - western Tanzania (May 2005 to December 2005)
* In charge of a large surface exploration programme at Bulyanhulu gold mine - Tanzania (July 2004 – April 2005)
* Re-logging, interpretation and modelling of the Kabanga North ore body – western Tanzania (October 2003 to June 2004)
* Mapping and exploration drilling program - Postmasburg manganese field, South Africa (August 2003 to September 2003)
* Literature study, compilation of historical data and target generation – eastern and central Witwatersrand Basin, South Africa (April 2003 to July 2003)
* Prospecting licence application, mapping and design of exploration program – eastern limb of Bushveld Igneous Complex, South Africa (November 2002 to April 2003)
* Logging, mapping, scheduling and grade control at hydrothermal Au deposit in Tanzania. Re-interpret and model the geology of one of the satellite ore bodies. (July 2000 to Nov 2002)
* Large exploration programs (+ 60,000m) on the Western Lobe of the Bushveld Igneous Complex, South Africa (December 1999 to June 2000)
* Responsible for all the exploration (24,000m of diamond drilling) and geological work done during the feasibility study at Crocodile River Mine, RSA (February 1999 to November 1999)
* Alluvial gold exploration in RSA (September 1998 to January 1999).

Chief Geologist - Projects and Exploration
Key responsibilities to expand and modernise the company's operations. Duties included project work in Zimbabwe, regional exploration in the Barberton Mountainland, compilation of historical data and implementation of Lynx modelling system at Fairview Mine.

Chief Geologist - Production
Barberton Mines Limited was part of Billiton Metals, which held a 70 square kilometre tenement area in the Barberton Mountainland. Fairview Mine mills 12000 tons of ore per month. Monthly diamond drill and underground development rates are 1200 metres and 700 metres respectively.
Responsible for a department consisting of six Barberton Mines employees and thirty contractors. Duties include the following
* A member of the organisations management team
* Responsible for formulating and directing the organisations exploration strategy
* Intimately involved with the drawing up of the organisations strategic and business plan
* Controlling a drilling budget
Achievements include
* Improved exploration success rates and ore exposure rates
* Computerised the department
* Motivated numerous underground and surface exploration projects
* Responsible for getting tribute agreement talks with neighbouring mines re-started
* Involved with finalising tribute agreement contract
1988 - 1990 Barberton Mines Ltd. South Africa
Section Geologist
Initially worked in the older section of the mine. Gained valuable experience in remnant mining techniques. Later moved to fully-fledged production section. Involved with tribute agreement negotiations with adjoining mine.
1984 - 1988 Goldfields of Namibia Namibia
Exploration Geologist
Stationed in remote area on the edge of the Namib desert. Employed in regional exploration and project evaluation. Instrumental in delineating substantial tin resources at the Goantagab deposit through detailed mapping and drilling programmes. Also gained experience in pegmatite, skarn, gold and tungsten mineralisation.
Based in northern part of Namibia. Involved with regional exploration for Mississippi Valley-type deposits. Also engaged in drilling for extensions to the Berg Aukas lead-zinc-vanadium deposit.
