PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Exploration management: I have spent the past 6 years in Turkey as a consultant, managing country-wide exploration programs for Newmont Overseas Exploration (April 2002-April 2003) and Tüprag Madencilik, a subsidiary of Eldorado Gold Corporation (May 2003-present). During this time I was re-sponsible for the discovery of epithermal precious metal systems at Diyadýn in Aðrý Province (now a Newmont project), at Mahmur Tepe in Samsun Province (ongoing Tüprag project), at Çatak in Ordu Province (ongoing Tüprag project). I have had complete responsibility for the generative ideas and field work, project start-up and facilitation, project reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Generative responsibilities: Much of my career has revolved around generative exploration work in North America, Turkey, and Central Asia. I have worked in a variety of geological terranes, exploring for gold, silver, base metals, uranium, and phosphate deposits. I have also spent time in the Coeur d’Alene Dis-trict at the Lucky Friday and Galena Mines working on underground generative projects.
Generative results: Through managed teamwork, I have brought numerous projects beyond first-pass stage. I was partly responsible for the first mapping of the Çöpler gold-copper deposit, presently being permitted by Anatolia Minerals, in eastern Turkey. My crews have been responsible for a number of dis-coveries in Turkey while working at Cominco Resources (Cerattepe Au-rich VMS deposit, Taç epithermal gold deposit, Çorak epithermal gold deposit), at Newmont Madencilik (Diyadýn hot springs gold deposit), and at Tüprag Madencilik (Kabataþ porphyry copper-gold deposit, Mahmur Tepe gold deposit, Kapýkaya high sulfidation gold target, Çatak low sulfidation gold target). Through review of old data, I have advised my present client to re-visit several old, previously unsuccessful projects, which after re-interpretation, offer significant new targets to be drilled during spring-summer 2007.
Advanced projects and production: I managed the definition drilling and pre-feasibility exploration at the Küçükdere epithermal gold deposit in western Turkey for Tüprag Madencilik. The deposit is now being mined by Koza Altýn, a Turkish company. I have also worked as a production geologist at the Lucky Fri-day silver-lead mine, an underground, narrow vein Ag-Pb-Zn mine in the Coeur d’Alene mining district.
Mentoring: After 12 years of exploration work and management in Turkey, many of the junior geologists that I hired and helped to train are now senior project geologists. At least four of my former trainees and assistants are now exploration managers for their respective companies.
New business development: Recently, I have been working on the identification and generation of new business and project opportunities in the general Mediterranean Basin.
Professional affiliations: Fellow, Society of Economic Geologists (SEG); member, Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits (SGA); member, Geological Society of Nevada (GSN); member, Northwest Mining Association (NWMA); member, Prospectors and Developers Association (PDA); registered professional geologist, state of Washington, USA.
