* Functioning as Head of Drilling and Blasting section and Mines Head at times. Accountable for total Drilling and Blasting operations of Mines.
* Worked with various consultants for blast improvement / controlled blasting viz. Mr. Tim Hagan (Australia), Dr. B Mohanty (Canada), Dr. P K Singh (CMRI, India).
* Actively involved in monthly excavation scheduling, material procurement & cost reduction in D&B, improvement projects.
* Got exposure on Electronic Detonators (Orica).
* Replacement of Bulk Slurry with Bulk Emulsion explosive.
* Improved drill and blast performance, resulting in a more even bench floor and higher excavator productivity, reduction in Crushing and grinding Power Consumption and apart from all to achieve higher rate of excavation necessary for Mine development. Alternatives to stemming for improved results.
* Improved the drill yield (Drill factor) by use of emulsion explosive, high strength booster charge, use of shock tube initiation system
* Reduction in cost and specific explosive consumption by use of Air decking (using gas bags)
* Specific use of gas bags to deal old workings / cavities
* Accountable for mine production, HEMM maintenance, Safety, Health & Environmental
* Played a key role in reducing the LTIFR along with minimising cost per ton by improving efficiency & productivity of HEMM.
* Conversion of main haul ramps from 1 in 16 to 1 in 12 gradient.
* Conceptualised & implemented the software in blasting for improvement in fragmentation & analysis.
* Involvement in Six Sigma Methodology for improvement in Mining processes and efficiencies.

* Process mapping and standardisation of the MM process at all plants
* Implementation of the full life cycle SAP R/3 4.7 system HZL.
* Started as a Pilot project covering a Smelter and a Mine initially in which I was involved as a MM CTM. Later was also involved in eight subsequent rollouts (at five smelters, two mines & a captive Power plant) covering the entire nation without a parallel run.
* The project involved MM configuration, Development Coordination, Integration Testing, Power user development, user training and production support to users at various locations and audit. The modules implemented were MM, FI, CO, SD, PP, PM and QM..
* Several training courses (from Senior Management level to workmen / staff levels) were also conducted.

I have over seven years of functional experience in the purchase / materials function in various positions of Materials Department of HZL. This involved the following areas:
* Purchase of Spares and Commodities for the plant. Responsible for Complete Procurement cycle starting from PR to PO, Imports, Finalisation of Rate Contract.
* Inventory control manager looking after dilution of inventory, analysis of non-moving inventory. Taking care of Vital, Essential and Desirable Material (VED)
* Sale of scrap as well as obsolete materials
* Sale as well as stock transfer of finished goods of our plant
* Finalisation of Maintenance Contracts.
* Procurement of Capital equipment required for plant and for Project work.
* Procurement of maintenance requirements and Production materials based on Production plan or Consumption Based planning.
* Procurement of Operational Spares required for the effective running of the Equipment.

* Exposure to Consignee Operated Depot at Plant (Consignee's stock)

* The excavation cycle including the production planning with available resources viz. equipments and man-power.

* Had been to South Africa for exposure to world class production practices (Venetia and Portgeterous) in 2005

* Visited Sweden in 2007 to gain knowledge on Drill machine manufacturing process, the instrumentation for quality drilling, its use in field and drilling and Blasting operations in Large open Cast Mines (Aitik).
* Had been to World's highest Zinc producing Mines, Red Dog in Alaska, USA in 2007 to see the operations and to implement best practices at Rampura Agucha Mines
