Career & Achievements

* CSIR Research Scholar, Andhra University. Dec.1973 to August.1975. Geochemistry of Sukinda Chromite Deposits. Orissa. Interim report submitted to Dept. Of Geology, Andhra University.

Paper deals with the hitherto unknown aspects of geochemical origin and migration of Chromium in a hydrothermal environment. Research could not be completed.

* Joined as Geologist (Jr.) Geological Survey of India, through UPSC Geologists Examination (1974) (Class I) at Trivandrum on 30th.Sept.1975.

Carried out systematic geological mapping, preliminary and detailed mineral investigations in the districts of Trivandrum, Quilon, Alleppey, Trichur, Idduki and Wynad. Mineral exploration includes exploration for Clay, Chrysoberyl and Molybdynum. Also was part time Guest Lecturer at Marine Geology Division, University of Cochin, Ernakulam (Period 1975 – 1981)
Worked as Geologist(Jr.), Southern Region, Hyderabad in DORIS(Division of Regional Integrated Surveys) and Carried out mineral Exploration for Base Metals and Precious Metals(Copper, Zinc, Lead and Gold) in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Work involved Geophysical and Geochemical Surveys and detailed Exploration by Drilling (Period 1981 – 1984)

Detailed exploration for base metals, Ahobilam area, Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh by multidisciplinary exploration technique involving Geophysical (IP and SP) and Geochemical surveys, Drilling and Borehole Geochemical studies. Carried out detailed geophysical surveys ( 5 sq.Km), Detailed Geochemical Surveys and sampling ( 5 sq.Km), Large scale mapping on 1:1000 scale ( 2 sq.km) Drilling and drill core sampling ( 1200 meters, 4000 samples), Borehole geochemical studies involving 6000 samples and 15 elements of each. Planning, execution, collection of data, interpretation of Geophysical and Geochemical data and planning for Drilling and Drilling.
* November 1982 to May 1983. Geophysical and Geochemical exploration for base metals in Vanipenta area, Cudapah District, Andhra Pradesh. Geophysical surveys (IP & SP) 15 Sq.km, Geochemical Surveys (15 sq.km), sampling (5000 samples on a grid) interpretation of geophysical and Geochemical Data.
* November 1983 to May 1984. Mineral Exploration by Drilling and Multidisciplinary Techniques involving Geophysical and Geochemical exploration in Vanivilaspuram area, for basemetals, Chitradurga District, Karnataka State. Total area covered under the exploration programme is 25 sq.km. Collection of Geophysical and Geochemical data, preparation of Geophysical and Geochemical maps and profiles, interpretation of results and planning for drilling programmes.
* Transferred to Assam – Meghalaya Circle, Geological Survey of India, North Eastern Region, Shillong. Joined at Shillong in August 1984.

* Worked as Geologist (Jr), North Eastern Region Shillong. Carried out Geological Mapping and Mineral Exploration and Environmental Geological Mapping and Geotechnical Investigations in the States of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. Work involved Exploration for Base Metals, Landform Mapping and Environmental Impact Studies, Terrain Mapping and Geotechnical Investigations for Multipurpose Projects at Karbi Anglong and Ranga Nadi. Also Ass0ciated with Border Roads and GREF in planning Roads in Arunachal Pradesh.

* November 1984 to May 1985. Systematic geological mapping and exploration for bauxite, Karbi-Anglong District, Assam. Large scale mapping of Lateritic terrain of Karbi Anglong District.

* Promoted as Geologist (Sr.) July 1985

* November 1985 to May 1986. Systematic Geological Mapping and Geotechnical studies at the Karbi Longpi Hydro electrical Project, Karbi Anglong District, Assam.

* November 1986 to May 1987. Exploration for coal deposits in the Districts of Khasi and Jaintia hills, Meghalaya State.

* November 1987 to May 1988. Exploration for Coal and Bauxite deposits in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills Districts of Meghalaya.

* November 1988 to May 1989. Exploration for Coal and Limestone deposits in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills Districts of Meghalya and North Cachar Hills of Assam.

* Besides these major investigations also carried out part time investigations of the following nature. 1. Landform mapping and Terrain studies around Tura area for landslide hazard identification. Work involved geomorphological mapping, preparation of thematic maps and identifying potential zones of landslides.

* November 1989 to May 1990. Basemetal sulphide exploration involving geophysical and geochemical methods in the Lower Subansiri District, Arunachal Pradesh. Also assisted GREF (General Reserve Engineering Force) in planning and execution of road construction between Yazali and Sagali.

* November 1990 to May 1991. Coal, limestone and bauxite exploration in the West Khasi Hills Districts of Meghalaya

* Between October 1991 and August 1992 worked as Head of Office, North Eastern Region (Seven states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura). Work involved Planning, monitoring and Supervision of Investigations in NER, Planning of Exploration Programmes, Budgeting for Investigations, Supervision of Exploration Programmes, Liaison with State Govt Officials and North Eastern Council besides Administrative work of the Region.

* Transferred to Laboratories and Research Division, Geological Survey of India, Southern Region, Hyderabad.

* Consultant Geologist, Project Jal Nirmal, a World Bank assisted Karnataka Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project. Worked in Raichur District. Activities included ground water investigations, source identification, drilling, quarry management for road works under the project and liaison with State Mining and Geology and Other Officials of the Zilla Panchayat and Deputy Commissioner.
