* Founded a company which bought an industrial contract cleaning franchise and provided services to blue chip and small/medium sized businesses. Within the first two years of operations, the business made a substantial profit and was rated as a top 5 performer within the larger Franchise business. Developed keen commercial and customer management skills. However found the red tape stultifying and wound up franchise to enable him to pursue opportunities in the mining business.

Underground Manager, BCL Ltd, Botswana April 2000 to July 2003
* BCL Limited is an underground mining company which produces copper-nickel ore from three shafts and is the largest single private sector entity employer in Botswana. The majority of the production from the three shafts are derived from cut and fill stopes, long hole drilling techniques and cleaned with LHD's, winches and scrapers.
* Employed as an underground manager to drive the operational aspects of the Selebi North Shaft and driving 315 employees and Engineers to achieve a mechanised production target of 54,600 tonnes per month.

Key achievements:
* Significantly improved results by reducing the dilution materially through increased the accuracy of the long hole drilling.
* Improved Development Section's results with all three Main Ramps Achieving calls ensuring that sufficient stopes were pre-developed to ensure that ore tonnage was maintained.
* Negotiated with Unions to enable Shaft to go onto continuous operations with a resultant and significant increase in development metres.

Underground Manager, BCL Ltd, Botswana November 1997 to March 2000
* Recruited to manage ore production of 3 Shaft and 1 Shaft Phikwe from cut and fill stopes, pillar reclamation and open stopes. Responsible 1,143 employees and Engineers as well as the development of safe operating practices and training programs for the operators.

Key achievements:
* Improved operational capacity so that last two year's production was 100,000 tonnes over budget.

Acting Underground Manager, Gold Fields Group, South Africa August 1996 - May 1997
* Transferred to a section in 3 Shaft, Kloof Gold Mine, Gauteng Province to manage 850 employees and Engineers.
Key achievements:
* Development call of 400 metres per month and a stoping section with a call of 6,000 m² per month (± 25,000 metric tonnes) on a relatively shallow dipping tabular ore body.
* Successfully rehabilitating the bottom levels of 3 Shaft after it flooded.

Mine Overseer, Gold Fields Group, South Africa July 1995 – August 1996
* Employed at West Driefontein Gold Mine, Gauteng Province. Responsible for relieving several Production Underground Managers and employing a variety of shaft sinking, long wall system production and back filling support techniques.
Key achievements:
* Relieving all the Production Underground Managers and producing 1,000 tonnes per day from the removal of 3 highly stressed shaft pillars.
* Qualified as a Risk Assessment Facilitator following a three month training course.

Production Shift Boss, President Brand Mine, South Africa June 1989 to July 1995
* Based in the Free State Province, South Africa. Responsible for conventional stoping and development and undertaking a Production Mine Overseer role on several occasions.

Site Manager, Bullion Recoveries, South Africa and Botswana June 1987 – June 1989
* Responsible for establishing a gold dump recovery operation on the East Rand, South Africa. Transferred to the Monarch Gold Mine Project, located in an Archean greenstone belt in Botswana to continue this work.
Key achievements:
* Brought Monarch operations into production by establishing site and the dewatering of the old workings. Opened up old mine and made it safe for the sampling and geology personnel to evaluate workings.

Underground Manager, Consolidated Modderfontein Mines, S.Africa November 1985 – June 1987
* Employed initially as Mine Overseer but promoted to Underground Manager after 3 months. Responsible for meeting demand targets of 650 reef tons per shift and 16 m. per shift using conventional stoping and developing as well as trackless mining. Other duties included control of budgets, planning, control and allocation of labour to optimise production as well as all legal requirements.

Planning Officer, Randfontein Estates Gold Mine, South Africa March 1984 - November 1985
* Duties included monthly, 6 monthly, 2 year and 5 year planning and the high-speed trackless development using 2 twin haulage systems. The stoping was done in stope widths in a board configuration and the development included flat ends, raises and boxholes.
