Proven track record in achieving ambitious goals An example of an ambitious goal was to project manage a major mine expansion and redevelopment, including the purchase and operation of a new complete longwall mining package for Austral Coal. The next ambitious goal was to manage the total operation and transform a mine with outdated and ineffective practices and customs into a modern, efficient and successful operation. This consists of managing day to day problems to negotiating enterprise agreements. I have been actively involved with the establishment of new operations; this has included the selection, recruiting and training of personnel from operator to management level and the development of enterprise agreements. Commercial and Financial Skills I have successfully managed individual contracts in excess of 65 million dollars and in the majority of my roles have been responsible for operating and maintenance budgets in excess of 150 million dollars Interpersonal, Negotiation and Communication Skills I have demonstrated the ability to communicate with people at all levels. I use a consultative approach ensuring best alignment of people to tasks and goals. I have strong negotiation skills covering areas such as employee coaching and counseling, contract management and union disputations. My role requires communication regularly with people from Managing Director level to equipment operators. Project Management A major initiative was to manage the Tahmoor North project with Austral Coal at Tahmoor Mine, this was a major mine expansion valued at approximately 180 million dollars and basically consisted of supplying a new mine within an existing infrastructure. This created some challenging issues as the existing mine had to continue to operate whilst the new plant and equipment was installed. Engineering and Maintenance Management I have established complete maintenance management systems for new operations and also introduced new and improved methodologies to existing mines. Operations Management I have managed complex multi site operations with success through a balanced approach ensuring world class standards in health safety and environment, management and development of people, continuous improvement in operational efficiency and finance management.
