* Joined the company as the Key account Manager responsible for the day to day running of logistics for the Boart Longyear Account as ITN controlled all warehousing & logistics for Boart Longyear. ITN approached me after hearing about me from one of the clients that I was dealing with at DHL that they dealt with as well.

* In this role I handled rate negotiations for all Exports and Import cargo for Boart Long Year in and out of Canada.

* Warehousing and Distribution of mining equipment for Boart Long Year locally and internationally, this included (mining equipment) coring rods,casings,drill rods, percussive tools, that would be loaded into regular containers, moved as LCL or air freight and out of gauge over dimensional cargo such as Drill Rigs.
* Also did sales, rate negotiations and operational logistics for the transportation of out of gauge project cargo by air and ocean for companies like Siemens Power Generation, RDH Mining, Atlas Copco, Sandvik, Bristol Machine, Debeers, ABB, Codelco, Cummins, Kortec Inc, Husky Injection Molds, Mitsubishi Electrical Systems, Breaker Technologies

* During my Tenure with ITN I worked very closely with the South Africa Government through the Consul Economic in the South African Consulate General's office in Toronto which lead me into Route Development between Canada and South Africa. Here I became an in-house logistics consultant for the Consulate where they referred all companies that contacted them for help and information on how to export and import to and from Canada and South Africa.

* In my role as a Route Development Manager I also worked with organizations such as The Canada South Africa Chamber of Business, Mine Africa, Export Development Canada, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade Ontario and other organizations in South Africa on business development between Canada & South Africa. Through my affiliation with these organizations I met most of the companies doing business in Africa on a neutral ground where we could discuss how best we could work together.

* I had to attend Mining Shows such as PDAC, CIM, on behalf of the company and in conjunction with organizations such as Canada South Africa Chamber of Business & Mine Africa.

* Arranged for Route Development trips between Canada and South Africa.

* Set up agency agreement with agent offices in South Africa and Japan.

* Joined the company as an Export Specialist / Team Leader responsible for the export operations in the ocean freight department.

* I was promoted to Key Account Manager responsible for DHL`s major customers such as NCR, Petro Canada, Saint Gobain, Raytheon, LCBO & Atlas Copco

* I had a team of 7 people reporting to me and I was reporting to the Ocean Freight Manager.

* In this role I was responsible for all exports from the above mentioned key accounts and also the point of contact between the customers and my operations team.

* At the end of the month I would print my profit and losses for everybody in my team and make sure that all was in order before doing my month end reconciliation which I would then hand over the Ocean Freight Manager.

* Being the Key Account Manager I had to do joints sales calls with the Sales Reps to make sure that our key clients where happy and also to find out if there are places they felt we could improve. At times if a client had problems I would actually go and work from their location until the problem was solved.

* DHL did not have a dedicated projects team so whenever a project with over dimensional cargo came up for some of our existing clients such as Atlas Copco, Raytheon & Bristol Machine I ended up handling it from start to finish, which included rate negotiations, bookings, inspections, and sometimes escorts for the project cargo.

* Joined the company as an apprentice where I worked during the day and would take International Trade courses & International Freight Forwarding Course in the evening.

* I started in the warehouse as a general hand, during this time I worked on the loading docks where we loaded and offloaded trucks and containers prepared and labeled air freight and ocean freight shipments.

* I was moved to the trucking division where I became a driver's assistant handling deliveries and pick ups of shipments.

* From the driver's assistant I was moved to the truck dispatch desk where I was now working under the head dispatcher as his assistant. In this role I became familiar with the Geography of Canada.

* Upon completion of my apprenticeship I was offered a position in the company as Project Manager in charge of a key account which was the Bank of Nova Scotia. The Bank of Nova Scotia had branches all over the Caribbean, Latin America and Europe. All these branches where run from Canada in terms of office supplies, furniture and other consumables. I was responsible for purchase order monitoring for the bank, international shipping & logistics, customs clearance upon arrival and delivery of all the products to the branches. If the bank was building new branches I was responsible for all products they would purchase from Canadian suppliers until they would be delivered to the construction site.
