Responsibilities:

o Reporting to mine management, this position is responsible for ensuring the safety and health compliance of underground contractors.
o Participation in a longwall recovery project in a deep coal mine involving installation of steel arches for roof control and dinting the floor of the roadway to maintain the road height.
o Compiling reports relating to safety management – on site risk assessments, PPE register, accident/incident investigations, toolbox talks.
o Performing accident/incident investigations with the purpose of identifying failures. ICAM investigations.
o Supervision of contractors, site inspections, risk assessments, toolbox talks.
o Training of contractors in emergency procedures and evacuation.
o Establishment of methods of work, issuing existing standard procedures and methods of work.
