10/2008 to Present: Manager of Mine Technical Services, Ernest Henry Mine, Xstrata Copper, Queensland, Australia. Management of 44 technical personnel, including Mining Engineers, Geotechnical Engineers, Geologists, Surveyors and Environmental Advisors for an iron ore/copper/gold (IOCG) open pit mine in transition to underground operations.
5/2007 to 4/2008: Mine / Project Manager, Tony M Mine, Denison Mines (USA) Corp., Ticaboo, UT. Start up of an historic underground room-and-pillar uranium mine.
Appointed member of Ticaboo Special Services District in the re-establishment of housing and other townsite utilities necessary to support the project. On site corporate representative to liaise with county, state, and federal agencies and NGO's.
Management of the mining contractor during mine rehabilitation and initial production. Project Management of the EPCM and surface infrastructure contractors. Completed selective engineering tasks to include; dewatering, ventilation, mine utilities, equipment selection, and permitting.
5/2006 to 5/2007: Principal Engineering Consultant, Underground Mining, SRK Consulting, Denver, CO. Consulting on all aspects of mining operations to include due diligence reviews for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), preparation of Scoping Studies, Pre-Feasibility, and Feasibility Studies. Acted as Qualified Person (QP) for the Mining sections of NI 43-101 Technical Reports.
11/2004 to 5/2006: Superintendent of Engineering, P.T. Freeport McMoRan, West Papua, Indonesia. Assisted in converting the feasibility study for the new Big Gossan open stope underground copper/gold mine into a Project Execution Plan (PEP). This involved a full review of project CAPEX and OPEX as well as the LOM schedule. Other roles included Superintendent of Field Engineering Group, which supervised three Chief Mine Engineers, four Senior Engineers and eight engineering technicians responsible for QA/QC of multiple underground operations and ancillary projects that introduced new technology.
09/2003 to 10/2004: Senior Mine Engineer, American Gilsonite Company, Bonanza, UT. Liaised with county, state and federal agencies for all aspects of mining operations. Included special duties associated with operations adjacent to designated "Indian Country". Responsibilities included mine design, resource and reserve estimation, exploration, permitting, and reclamation of federal and state leases as well as private fee lands. Underground steep narrow vein Gilsonite mines.
04/2003 to 09/2003: Mining Engineer, Bureau of Land Management, Phoenix, AZ. Mining Engineer on the Native American Minerals Team (NAMT). Study and analysis of mining issues on Native American lands. Verification of mine production assessed against geological resource models for surface coal mining operations.
05/2002 to 03/2003: Field Engineer, Obayashi/W.W.Clyde Co. JV, Spanish Fork, UT. Civil Engineering project sponsored by the Bureau of Reclamation. The project included construction of multiple shafts, adits, and large diameter buried pipeline. Supervised design/build on roads, portals, tunnels, shafts, pipelines, reinforced concrete structures, shotcreting, grouting, and retaining walls, facilities design, drainage, and pollution control. Conducted cost estimation for scope change/extra work submittals.
10/2000 to 01/2002: Senior Mine Engineer, Molycorp Inc., Questa, NM. Planning and scheduling for block caving operations in an underground molybdenum mine. Creation of the short term mine plan and issuance of daily production draw orders. Installation and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation. Weekly drawpoint ore grade assays. Raise bore contractor supervision. Used Surpac for block modeling and reserve estimation. Fully qualified member, Mine Rescue Team.
11/1997 to 05/2000: Mine Engineer, Stillwater Mining Company, Nye, MT.
Mine design for steep narrow vein platinum/palladium underground mine. Short and mid-term mine planning. Mechanical design of mine infrastructure and equipment. Issued tenders for contracted projects and conducted associated training and project supervision. Directly supervised raise bore and diamond drilling crews (44 personnel). Mine rescue team member and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
09/1995 to 11/1997: Project Engineer/Rock Mechanics Engineer-, FMC Wyoming Corp. Green River, WY. Geotechnical analysis and design for underground room-and-pillar and longwall panel mine in flat bedded trona (sodium carbonate) deposit. Conducted short term and LOM mine planning. State certified Underground Trona Foreman
06/1994 to 08/1995: Project Engineer, US Gypsum Co., Saltville, VA. All aspects of mine engineering in an underground multi-level room-and-pillar gypsum mine, to include; exploration, mine design, reserve estimation, ventilation, safety, and mine services infrastructure. Stood in for the Mine Manager on an as-needed basis.
