Duties:

- Ensuring a pro-active approach to safety management and maintenance of mine standards.
- Assist with the implementation of safe work procedures including conducting safety inspections, assisting in conducting safety observations and contact sessions, and participating in conduct of safety investigations as required.
- Provide technical and practical support to the crews.
- A demonstrated commitment to achieving Zero Harm in Health, Safety, Environment and Community.
- Sound technical knowledge of underground coal mining processes including practical, operating and mechanical knowledge of conveyors, longwall, and continuous mining equipment.
- Sound problem solving and organizational skills.
- The allocation of resources in line with the requirements and directions of the longwall Superintendent.
- Liaise with Tech Services Personnel: Ventilation Officer, Strata Engineer, Gas Drainage Engineer and also Mechanical and Electrical Coordinators.
- Experienced in working as a team player and a willingness to take on responsibilities in a team.

- Core Outbye Deputy task in relation to Mine Managers inspection regime.
- Liaise with Tech Services Department in regard to their requirements.

Position: Longwall Face Operator Maintainer

Worked on Longwall from mini-build on surface until end of mine.

The seam at Newlands Southern was approximately 6mtrs, with extraction of 4.5mtrs and face width of 250mtrs. There was a total of 15 blocks and the seam gas contained 95% methane with a high spon com risk.

Duties: Longwall face Duties: Authorized and competent to operate all face and main gate equipment including shearer and chocks. Longwall moves and installation, including, installing Haska Mesh and operating rapid face bolter. Operating various other Longwall move equipment which included the following:

- Electric mule (Petito)
- Eimco 936
- Eimco ED10
- Eimco 913
- Eimco 130
- FBL 40 (Godzilla)
- Driftrunner
- PJB
- Shearer Carrier
