Mining Environment and Safety Division
- Conducts regular monitoring of operating mines (underground and open cast) and quarries on proper mining methods, safety and health.
- Conducts regular monitoring of operating mines (underground and open cast) and quarries against adverse effects of mining activities on the environment. Recommends measures to protect the environment against the adverse effect of mining operation.
- Conducts lectures/seminars, information and education campaign (IEC) to concerned mining communities regarding the pertinent provisions of the Philippine Mining Act of 1995 and its Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations.
- Conducts field investigation on illegal mining activities and mining conflicts.
- Conducts periodic monitoring of areas covered by existing mining rights and exploration permits.
- Performs other special duties and responsibilities within the authority of the Mines and Geo-Sciences Bureau that may be delegated from time to time as the need arises.
- Prepares call up letters/correspondences in relation to the abovementioned activities.

- Implements instructions from the Project Manager and/or from the turn-over reports of outgoing mine foreman and shift bosses inquiring available equipment priorities, manning and other information to assure optimum performance.
- Check excavation headings for ground instability. Instruct and directs personnel to completely scale down loose debris and supervises the proper and effective installation of rock support, if necessary.
- Organizes, assigns and directs personnel in posting of guards on all approaches affected by blasting and inform other personnel working on adjacent areas to secure safe position during blasting.
- Ensures all equipment are retreated to safe distances before blasting to prevent any damage that might result from it.
- Inspects newly blasted face for bootlegs and misfires. Supervises the proper recovery of misfires and cleaning of face if any, to assure it is free from remnants of explosives.
- Make certain the proper and maximum utilization of development and production LHD's. Reports and make request for emergency equipment maintenance and repair when necessary.
- Prepares turn-over report for incoming shift and log all accomplishments during the shift into the provided logbook.
- Makes request for necessary materials and supplies to accomplish the task and follow-up delivery of the same.
- Enforce and ensure that all subordinates assigned to task follow established safety regulations and practices and that they use and protect themselves with personal protective equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions and for installing safe working habits on subordinates. Conducts safety pep talks during start of the shift and monthly safety meetings.
- Ensures proper orientation and training of new employees and develop their skills in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
- Takes corrective action when a work standard is violated and reports serious infractions to superiors. Makes recommendation concerning appropriate disciplinary action. Makes accident report, if any.
- Perform other duties that maybe assigned from time to time.

- Investigate and analyzes accident/s and recommend action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Maintains up to date safety and accident statistics.
- Submit Monthly General Accident Report to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau.
- Formulate emergency response preparedness program.
- Provides assistance to government agencies in the conduct of safety and health inspection, accident investigation or any other related programs.
- Perform other duties that maybe assigned from time to time.
