Cargill Fertilizer, Inc. – Riverview, FL
August 2000-December 2000
Assigned to the Maintenance/Reliability division of Cargill’s fertilizer production plant in Riverview, FL. Major projects included: mapping potable water lines along with the completion of P&ID’s for this water system in the Phosphoric Acid, Dry Products, Feed, Ammonia and Clarifier areas of the plant, and locating the cause of a low-pressure malfunction throughout the lines. Other responsibilities were supervising cleanup of a bone yard (which included: organizing equipment into separate departments, scheduling radiation tests, and disposing of contaminated materials), creating critical spares list using MAXIMO, creating work-flow spreadsheets, and scheduling equipment for predictive maintenance.
RELATED PROJECTS:
Worked with a 5-member team of students to design and develop an assistant chair for an individual with cerebral palsy to enable her to participate competitively in field events for the Paralympics. (During her first competition using the chair, she won the silver medal and recently came in fourth in the Paralympics World Championships in France.)
Worked with a 12-member team of students to design and build a miniature stock car and compete in National Society of Automotive Engineers-sponsored competition. Areas focused on included: designing a flotation device and making improvements to the rear axle.
MEMBERSHIPS AND AWARDS:
Society of Automotive Engineers (Special Events Coordinator and Treasurer), Engineering Transition Society (Secretary), American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (Scholarship), and Engineering College Council.
