Responsibilities: Oversee the maintenance, reticulation and statutory requirements with a crew of 14 at the Endeavor Mine Site in central New South Wales. Machinery includes the GEC Cegelec winder, underground crusher, ore feeder and a mobile plant of Jumbos, Haul Trucks, Loaders, Solos and compressors.
I have overseen the change in culture from soft wired, mining personnel oriented, electrical reticulation methods to a hard wired, electrical personnel oriented, reticulation. This allows us to meet future mines regulations without the extra cost of substantial upgrades. To do this, I implemented many concepts of electrical mining methods used in Western Australia, which I regard as world best practice standards.
I have also overseen a change from a culture that was happy to "keep it going", to a culture that addressed the problems involved in breakdown. This has seen a substantial increase in Winder availability in particular all mobile equipment in general.
Currently in the process of bring the HV reticulation up to standard in the underground areas.

Responsibilities: Oversee the maintenance, reticulation and statutory requirements of Hill 50 and St. George underground workings. I implemented several cost saving measures including fuel dispensing ID control system using Seimens software, eliminating fuel theft, restructured leaky feeder system and distribution and motor control box rehabilitation. I constructed electrical diagrams as per statutory requirement using AutoCAD software. My crew provided 24 hour, 7 day continuous and consisted of 6 electrical fitters and an apprentice.

Responsibilities: Oversee the maintenance, reticulation and statutory requirements of Radio Hill underground workings. I inherited a workplace that was below standard and returned the workings to a standard of compliance until mine closure in June 2006. Assisted with the maintenance of processing plant on a call out basis. In April 2007, I was asked to re-establish the electrical reticulation when the mine commenced operations again.

PERSONAL

SAFETY

I believe that safety should be developed as a culture and all employees should evolve an awareness that is active at the sub conscious level. This can be achieved by making up to date safety procedures, information and equipment conveniently available at all times and supervisors should show employees the correct way to go about their business, especially the less experienced, not just relay the standard message.

At safety meetings in particular, I like to explain the reason why some rules are put in place, as some operators do not understand why they are compelled to do something that to them seems unnecessary.

SUPERVISING

Employees should be encouraged to show their abilities, express their beliefs and should be guided rather than directed although I understand that some employees need direction. Training should be provided on all aspects of mining, including technical and safety issues and some effort should be placed on improving how personnel go about their planning and breakdown processes. It should be encouraged for all personnel to think a little more before doing the job and I think that this also helps in improving safety awareness.

Supervisors need to be up front and honest with their team as well as showing confidence in each person's ability to do their job. Should the need arise, I find a private conversation is usually all that is needed to correct wayward behaviour but I have no qualms addressing a group when necessary.

SITE OVERVIEW PROGRAMS

I have experience with PLC program editing and construction primarily with Seimens, Cscape, Actwin and most recently, Allen Bradley and exposure to Citect and Scada overview systems although have never had the opportunity to delve into the editing side of these programs.

MAINTENANCE SYSTEMS

I have experience with FMMS at Rio Tinto's Pilbara Iron mine site, JD Edwards at the Granny Smith gold mine and currently I use the Pronto maintenance application. I have a full understanding of database construction and the range of uses that databases have on a mine site including personnel, stores, maintenance history and preventive maintenance work generation.
My ability with Microsoft Excel is considered be at a very high level using background code to do most of the work including chart and forecast generation and I have substantial experience with other Microsoft products and stand alone programming applications. My work with Microsoft Project is limited but I have a full understanding of its use.

COMMUNICATIONS

I have basic skills in radio and telephones with a solid knowledge of leaky feeder and telemetry systems, primarily in the control of remotely located bore pumps. I also have a good understanding of underground tele-remote loading systems.

OTHER:

I describe myself as confident, assertive and decisive. I prefer quality workmanship to cheap, quick fixes and strive for a clean, comfortable and efficient workplace.

I have coached the Paraburdoo Demons and Wyndham Tigers football teams and presided over a number of sporting and social clubs. I enjoy sport at the higher levels such as international horse racing and world cups as well as the domestic football codes. I have a passionate interest in sciences, particularly Astronomy and have recently developed an interest in the Baltic languages.
