Mechanical supervisor responsible for maintenance pertaining to a fixed dry crushing, screening and milling plant.
Responsible for training the workforce to carry out maintenance using planned and safe methods, rather than the pre-existing reactive and relatively ineffective manner.
Responsible for drawing up and introducing work orders, maintenance inspections and JSA to the local workforce. Also ensured any maintenance work carried out did not need to be re-visited.
Responsible for ensuring any stores items withdrawn were re-ordered using a manual re-order system.
Carried out basic planning duties using word and excel and introduced a simple filing system to ensure a history of work carried out could be tracked and a margin of traceability could be maintained.
Introduced to the local workforce the need for ownership and pride in the work being carried out.
Carried out a constant site improvement process, looking at specific weak points in the process and offering possible solutions.
Implemented a critical spares list, ordered a number of spares which were needed to keep the plant running.
Dealt with an ineffective stores system, which relied on manual re-ordering of stock.

Joined Mill division, but initially seconded to projects workshop engineer on car dumper shop builds and Metso site representative for modification work and installation projects of car dumpers. Also worked in projects department as contracts engineer.
1st line of contact for installation contractors, provided technical advice, assisted with the build up of car dumpers, maintenance and installation of mills and maintenance of crushers. Updated Metso method statements and drawings, to aid Metso with product improvement.
Involved in after market documentation, writing up inspection sheets, work procedures and safety documentation. Carried out mill audits on client's sites.
Ensured issues encountered were brought to attention of the relevant Metso specialist to provide fast and efficient solutions.

Directly responsible for safety and personnel problems in 2 mechanical crews. 6 Fitters and 3 welders on each crew and 1 local supervisor.
Responsible for planning training into the daily workload and carrying out planned on and off the job training sessions.
Made changes to equipment to either ease maintenance or cut back on the amount of maintenance required.
Ensured re-ordering of critical stock items took place.
Ensured the local workforce were given ownership of their tasks, rather than dictating ways and methods.
Employed 'outside the box' thinking to overcome issues, ensuring development of both the crews and maintaining production of the plant.
