Date of Birth: 22nd April, 1974

Career goals:
My goal is to continue building my skills and experience in the management of people, equipment, and business processes. In order to achieve this, I am seeking to acquire practical operational experience through choosing appropriate employment opportunities, the identification strong professional mentors, and through the formal quantification of this experience via self-funded external tertiary study.
Specifically, I have already completed a Diploma of Business - Frontline Management (please see http://www.pt.edu.au/index.php?q=bsb51004.htm for further detail), have completed approximately 40% of the Project Management Institute Certified Associate in Project Management course, and intend to pursue this through to the level of PMI Project Management Professional (please see www.pmi.org for further detail).
In conjunction with the Project Management stream, I am planning to further my business management studies through the completion of a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration, and then progressing to the MBA program from the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University (please see www.ebsglobal.net for further detail).
Overall, my ambition is to match my formal learning with practical experience, and to enhance the development of both as a result.

Career summary:
To date the scope of my career development over the past thirteen years has spanned the progression from apprentice to tradesman, team leader, supervisor, maintenance coordinator, product support adviser, maintenance planner, through to site MARC manager, and I have been fortunate enough to be involved in a number of diverse, challenging, and rewarding roles along the way.
These roles have covered the spectrum from representing several Original Equipment Manufacturers (including Hastings Deering Australia, Komatsu Australia, Terex Australia, and Liebherr Australia), to working with international resource giants such as Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance, Rio Tinto, Anglo Coal, Newcrest, and Xstata, through to representing leading international mining contractors such as Downer EDI and Leighton.
This body of work has allowed me to develop a balanced professional perspective through my experiences on both sides of the fence, and this gives me the ability to integrate the primary considerations of safety and productivity into a strategy of achieving win-win relationships, and high efficiency leading to outstanding overall performance wherever possible.
From an operational perspective, I am a firm believer in strong positive communication, and integrated cooperation at all levels in order to achieve positive outcomes for all stakeholders.

Project Maintenance Planner
BMA Norwich Park

My responsibilities in this role include planning all scheduled maintenance activities on a fleet of six excavators, over thirty off-highway trucks, and assorted ancillary equipment – a total of over fifty pieces of mining equipment in all.
Working closely with my Regional Plant Manager and Regional Planning Superintendent in Brisbane, as well as my Maintenance Superintendent and Senior Supervisors on site, I take responsibility for ensuring that all relevant data is gathered and administered to formulate a twelve-month forecast component budget, which is then refined down to rolling three-month site plans on a continual basis, then defined further into hard two-week workshop and individual shutdown plans.
Success in this role demands significant technical and practical knowledge of safe mining practises, safe maintenance processes relevant to a variety of equipment, and strong communication skills coupled with the ability gather and manage the necessary data and information, and to assist in the management of work processes to ensure positive outcomes and ongoing productivity. I am also heavily involved in facilitating effective information exchange within the maintenance work group, as well as across the various project departments.

January – December 2008 Liebherr Australia Pty Ltd
MARC Project Manager
Newcrest Telfer Mine

In the role of Project Manager with Liebherr, I assumed responsibility for the overall management, control and co-ordination of all activities of a workforce of twenty-five people to support a fleet of Liebherr equipment under a long-term Maintenance and Repair Contract at the remote Telfer site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The scope of this role included, by means of attitude and actions, demonstrating consistent, visible, and proactive leadership and commitment towards ensuring the compliance of all personnel in respect to company policies and procedures. Specifically, this scope was focussed on ensuring the establishment and continuation of a safe workplace, while striving to meet equipment availability targets, and other nominated KPIs specified under the terms of the MARC.
I achieved these goals by cooperating very closely with both Liebherr and the client to design and implement various maintenance, reporting and documentation systems necessary to achieve positive communication leading directly to effective and proactive maintenance strategies, and to ongoing safe production.
As well as providing effective management and planning strategy for the on-site maintenance tasks of the MARC in a controlled and organised manner – including the provision of detailed plans for scheduled maintenance jobs up to twelve months in advance – I was also directly involved in the preparation of capital and operating budgets by providing the necessary information and assistance to my Contracts and State Managers.

January – December 2007
Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd
Plant Supervisor
BMA Poitrel Mine

My role as a Plant Supervisor with Leighton was focussed on the key accountabilities of planning, leading, organizing, and controlling maintenance resources to achieve time, quality and productivity objectives in compliance with Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental plans specified under the terms of the contract with BMA at Poitrel mine.
Specifically, this entailed integral participation the project plans, which included Quality, Health and Safety, and Environmental plans, project instructions, process control plans and other relevant project procedures as nominated by the maintenance superintendent, Leighton project manager, and BMA project manager.

April 2006 – January 2007 Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance
Contract Maintenance Coordinator – Mobile
BMA Blackwater Mine

In my contracted role as Maintenance Coordinator with BMA at Blackwater mine, I was responsible for demonstrating commitment to, and holding others accountable for complying with the stated values of the operation by actively encouraging the involvement and motivation of personnel to promote the BMA charter. Specifically, this included planning, scheduling, and controlling maintenance processes and tasks to ensure safe, effective, and efficient use of parts, labour, and equipment resources.
In order to achieve these goals, I regularly communicated with maintenance personnel at all levels regarding issues which affected them, and acted as a mentor to maintenance trades so they were able to develop within their role. I also assisted in the continual development and implementation of the maintenance management system to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources, and constantly reviewed equipment maintenance histories and associated costing, so that short and long term maintenance strategies could be developed.

March 2005 – April 2006 Terex Mining
Build Supervisor
BMA Goonyella Riverside, BMA Peak Downs, Anglo
Coal Dawson, Felix Resources Minerva Mine

In my role as Build Supervisor with Terex mining, I was directly responsible for coordinating all activities relative to the transport, assembly, commissioning and timely delivery of assorted O&K mining equipment for several clients (including the provision of ongoing product support services as required) at various different sites in the Bowen and Callide basins.
First and foremost, this responsibility meant that I had to follow a systematic approach to health, safety and environmental management to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with the law, all OH&S requirements and statutory rules and regulations, and specific site requirements as nominated by the clients.
In doing so, I was able to ensure that all works were conducted in a safe and productive manner, without risk to employee health or safety, and was able to deliver all units on time and under budget.
