Dampier Salt's Port Hedland operation.
This operation employs approximately 90 individuals to process 3.2 million tonnes of salt per year. The maintenance team comprises 35 personnel, 6 of whom are direct reports.

Achievements:
* Improved safety performance and awareness by the team, recording only 2 minor injuries over the last 16 months.
* Embedded the JHA, Take 5 and Safe Work Observation processes.
* Reorganised the Maintenance team to meet the needs of the business.
* Formulated key asset life plans and identified critical spares listings with min/max holdings.
* Safe commissioning of new conveyor systems and Bulk storage facilities.
* Established KPIs for the team and embedded these within the performance management program.
* Implemented and administered best practice "Lean Maintenance" principles and various "Five S" projects for mobile and fixed plant.
* Structurally and mechanically rebuilt a salt harvesting machine.

RCR Construction and Maintenance
This operation supplied a maintenance service to the mining industry in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. I employed and managed a workforce that regularly exceeded 100 personnel of various trades' disciplines. Of these 9 were direct reports.

Plant maintained: Conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, various sizes of jaw crushers, gyratory crushers, milling and screening arrangements, beneficiation plants, and train load out facilities.

Achievements:
* Reduced the turnover of staff by selecting and recruiting individuals who wished to relocate to the Pilbara and created an option for "family orientated" FIFO rosters.
* Improved team safety awareness and reporting requirements to reduce injuries.

Fleur Australia and MBFjv, Olympic Dam
Fleur and the Joint Venture supplied a dedicated maintenance function to Western Mining and later BHP Billiton. The service included supervision, planning, scaffold erection, crane allocation and management. The labour supply arrangements covered Riggers, Electricians, Boilermakers, Fitters and unskilled personnel. This involved approximately 100 staff and trades with 12 of these being direct reports.

Achievements:
* Regular shutdown organisation and management of an additional 200-300 maintenance personnel.
* Maintain a safe work culture while managing a transient and workforce not knowledgeable in specific site procedures or safety requirements.
* Built relationships with team members and developed base skills required.
* Developed relationships and trust with various client representatives.
* Gained approval and Implemented safety guard railing to all site cranes and mobile machinery, prior to it being a WorkSafe or BHP requirement.
* Gained budget approval to implement the workforces training requirements.

Fox Resources-Radio Hill operation, Karratha
The Radio Hill operation was an old plant that had been mothballed and in a decaying state for several years. My role was to oversee the contract company performing the refurbishment of the plant equipment, then commission and maintain the operation.
This operation had a 200,000 TPA capacity for nickel refining with a total workforce of 62 individuals, 9 of these being direct reports

Achievements:
* Assisted with the development and implementation of the company's key safety values and drivers such as the Safety First and Protect your Mates initiatives.
* Refurbished and commissioned the Nickel/Copper crushing and processing plants with no lost time injuries and within budget.
* Sourced, trained and developed a strong balanced maintenance team.
* Organised the initial budget forecast for maintenance activities.
* Installed and managed the Mex CMMS and the later transition to the Pronto Maintenance software package.
* Developed preventative maintenance programmes for critical plant with specific work packs.
* Developed asset life plans for critical plant.
* Identified and maintained appropriate spares holdings for critical plant.
* The safe organising and management to allow the reline of the site Ball Mill using offsite contract personal.

Accountabilities:
* Ensure all preventative safety measures were appropriate and adequate for the tasks performed, such as JHA formulation and review, comprehensive risk assessments for complex tasks involving multiple work groups and on the job inspections using the "Protect your Mates" initiative.
* Ensure maintenance plans were achievable and had a high compliance, when not achieved review cause factors and reschedule.
* Management and maintenance of the Lime and Caustic plants and storage facilities.

Murray Basin Titanium- MBFjv, Wemen, Victoria
This was a Mineral Sands operation using a 400tph floating dredge which in turn fed a wet processing plant producing 25 tons per hour of high grade mineral concentrate. (Titanium Sands). The operation employed a total of 55 individuals, 11 being direct reports.

Achievements:
* Reduced unplanned stoppages, boosting plant mechanical/electrical availability.
* Analysed re-occurring faults and implemented preventive and predictive type maintenance practices to achieve this. Using this approach sometimes led to the replacement or modification of specific pieces of plant.
* Development of a 24-month major maintenance schedule, this proved to be an excellent tool to assist with the justification of future maintenance budgets.
* Controlled the costs of all in-house and out sourced maintenance activities by implementing contract awards to various service providers.
* Implemented and trained personnel in the correct use and benefits of using JSA's and Restricted Entry Permit Systems.
* Introduced a company sponsored Fitness for Work Program.
Accountabilities: * The formation of the Safe Work options (similar to a Take5) and SWP procedures, furthermore the acceptance and compliance to these by my work crews.
* Ensure compliance of all Statutory Mining, local and State Government legislations and regulations.
* Reduction of excessive unplanned downtime.
* Source, and manage all Contractor work groups.
* Supervise Procurement and Stores personnel.

Site: Sons of Gwalia (SOG) Leonora
This site was SOG's longest running and most profitable Gold mining and processing operation. The operation mined ore from several open cut satellite ore bodies as well as 2 separate underground decline operations. The operation produced between 400,000 oz and 565,000 ounces of fine gold per year with a workforce of approximately 270 individuals, 17 of these being direct reports

Achievements:
* Formulated a weekly and monthly maintenance schedule that was achievable for both electrical and mechanical workgroups.
* Implemented detailed work packs, these contained specific tooling, work procedures, a first pass JHA, permits required and a list of required parts and their locations.
* Managed my duties and responsibilities in a duel role as the Planner/Scheduler and Supervisor.
* Achieved sustainable improvements over time of both plant availability and reliability.
* Implemented plant criticality assessment and identified critical spares using a Top Down Bottom Up type survey.
* Reviewed and optimization of all plant PM tasks.
* Developed Life plans for all critical plant equipment.
* Formulated and prioritized a Hit List of work that was planned and ready to go with all parts available (this was implemented when the plant was available for unplanned events).

Accountabilities:
* Management and supervision of reagent area maintenance activities, also including site the Lime silo and associated automated dosing system.
* Maintenance and overhaul of various types of slurry pumping systems
* Managed Work-pack preparation and parts identification for planned work.
* Review all non compliances to plan and initiated contingencies to achieve desired results and availabilities.
* Managed maintenance activities for all underground fixed plant equipment including site dewatering operations.
* Relief Maintenance Superintendent as required to cover leave and other absences.

Contract specialist Welder/Fitter

Site: Macrae's Gold mine, South Island, New Zealand
This site is New Zealand's largest and most successful gold operation. The operation produces approximately 170,000 oz of gold annually from low grade ore reserves using autoclave and floatation technology. The site workforce was approximately 85 persons plus a contract crew of 55 to install and commission the autoclave and associated equipment.

Achievements: * Qualified in A.M.S.E 9 titanium welding for all positions using both automated and manual Tig welding processes.
* Achieved a pass rate of 98% for tested welds both stainless steel and titanium.
* Assisted with the brick lining of the lining of the autoclave and achieved 100% success regards brick retention on inspection after trials.
* The successful installation of valves, flanges, check valves and bypass pipe work without compromising critical flange and gasket surfaces.
* Successful hydrostatic testing of all pipe work associated with the autoclave.
* Assisted in the development of welding repair procedures and preventative maintenance tasks.
* Involved in the safe initial run up and commissioning of the AutoClave and associated oxygen plant, this was completed within budget and on time.

* Responsible for the safe execution of fitting and welding duties, including validation of permits, task preparation and JHA formulation
* Responsible for quality documents and control of titanium welding processes.
* Responsible for all risk control procedures related to fabrication and installation of titanium and stainless steel pipe work.

Gidgee Gold Mine, West Australia
This site although old and run down was surprisingly reliable. The site operated a contracted mobile crushing facility and a gyratory crusher. The process plant was C.I.L and made use of electro winning cells and a gravity recovery circuit.
The site workforce was approximately 90 persons with a maintenance crew of 8, 4 of these were direct reports.

Achievements: * The successful fabrication, installation and commissioning of a gravity gold circuit to capture free gold using a keilson bowl arrangement.
* The successful rebuild of the Rule Tower and conversion to a uniform wear plate system.
* The successful reline of 3 C.I.L tanks.
* Initiated bore case cut downs for pit dewatering operations without damaging pumps of flexible hoses

Accountabilities:
* Manage all new fabrications and repair work, both on the plant and at satellite open pit operations.
* Organise work packs and scopes of work for team members.
* Management of contractor work crews.
* Manage pit dewatering activities including pump and engine maintenance, poly and steel pipe repairs and pump relocations.

Cockatoo Island, West Australia, working for West-Arc Engineering.
West arc was contracted to maintain the crushing circuit, beneficiation plant, stacking and ship loading activities for Eltin's Mining.
The site employed approximately 45 individuals, of these 10 were electrical and mechanical maintainers and 9 of these were direct reports

Achievements: * Successful installation and commissioning of a Transimin CVR impact crusher, conveyor systems, hydraulics and associated walkways.
* Successful refurbishment and commissioning of a rotating apron feeder.
* The installation of a Nordberg mobile apron feeder and Jaw crusher assembly.
* The overhaul of a magnetic separation machine including oil tank reservoir rebuilds.
* Developed safe work procedures for repetitive tasks such as screen mat, jaw liner and impact bar change outs.
* Embedded a safety culture in the workforce that seen the benefits in using safety systems such as J.H.A use.
