Experience
June 2007 - May 2009 Field Service Manager
Company: SCHLUMBERGER Oilfield Services
Location: Pennsylvania, USA
Schlumberger is a global, world leading, service company for the Oil & Gas industry. I managed the shop in Bradford, PA. Our location, with 50 employees, grossed over $18M/yr, delivered 28% profit margin, and operated 24/7 in Open Hole / Cased Hole Wireline and Cementing services. We became the best HSE base under my leadership. We were awarded runner-up for Personnel Development. Our Regional Service Quality ranked third in the world.
Within Schlumberger, I have had many training courses pertaining to technical skill, Q.H.S.E, personnel relations, communication, time management and business operations. Most of this knowledge is industry recognized, and easily applied to either Oil & Gas or Mining.
July 2000 - May 2007 Senior Oilfield Engineer
Company: SCHLUMBERGER Oilfield Services
Locations: California and Pennsylvania, USA, and Bombay, India
I was a field engineer for the Reservoir Evaluation Wireline division, an on-site leader and supervisor for a small crew of men and highly technical equipment. My responsibilities included: client relations, quality service, efficient job performance, profit control, safe operations, crew management, respecting the environment and overall job success.
I was recruited in Canada, but I worked in California, Bombay, India and Pennsylvania, USA. I held both land, and offshore positions, which require their own respective perseverance, problem solving, integrity and positive attitudes.
May - September 1999 Underground Miner
Company: PLACER DOME
Location: Campbell Mine, Ontario, Canada
For the summer, I was an underground miner for a shaft access gold mine. On the production side, I prepared and loaded drill holes in narrow vein stopes. In development, I hauled ore with locomotives, operated rock-chutes and installed new drift track. It was an excellent opportunity to see the many aspects of mining function together for a common goal.
May - September 1998 Alimak Raise Miner
Company: GRAHAM Mining Contractors
Location: Laronde Mine, Quebec, Canada
As part of a 3-man Alimak Raise Crew, I installed rock support, and drilled and loaded development rounds, using the jackleg, stoper and Alimak. The project was a 10' diameter pilot raise for a ventilation shaft. I truly came to appreciate the skills of miners and the daily dangers they face.
May - September 1997 Engineering Assistant / Underground Miner
Company: EXALL Resources
Location: Glimmer Mine, Ontario, Canada
In operations, I learned to jackleg drill in sub-drifts of a narrow vein shrinkage stope. I also operated a haulage truck on the ramp access.
The engineering office staff was small for this start-up gold mine, therefore, I had plenty of diverse projects. I was primarily involved in mine planning. I learned a great deal about production schedules and developing ahead to meet the required ounces per month.
November 1995 - December 1996 Engineering Assistant
Company: TVX HELLAS
Location: Kassandra Mines, Stratoni, Greece
I interrupted my university education to take advantage of an offer to work in Greece on a pre-feasibility project. The Greek government sold the Kassandra Mines to TVX Gold. I was assistant to the Chief Engineer and helped analyze various plans and mining methods to accommodate local expectations, new innovations and company budgets. I also trained the Greek technologists in the basics of AutoCAD and mine layout protocol.
May - September 1995 Engineering Student
Company: TVX GOLD
Location: Les Mines Casa Berardi, Quebec, Canada
With the Senior Engineer, I analyzed the investment and implementation of a new shotcrete application method. The objective was to compare an in house, $1.0M wet batch plant system to the current system of dry bags, applied by contractors.
