Caterpillar trained electrical power generation, single and multi unit power systems.
Caterpillar trained small and large bore engine tech. for D and 3500 diesel engines.
Caterpillar trained power house systems maintenance and cost management.
IRD- (International Research and Development). Trained in the field of vibration analysis and diagnostics, including field dynamic balancing.

1-Departmental management, shop or site leadership of electrical, mechanical or heavy equipment.
2-Design, programming and installation of various automation systems, including Allen Bradley operator controls (HMI), supervisory (SCADA) and controls PLC including their communications topography such as Data Highway, Device Net etc.
3- Analysis, repair or design of more efficient methods of control or process procedures using new automation or instrumentation.
4- Large scale electrical generation systems.
5-Desire high-pressure time line based challenges where direct intervention and planning improves overall goal achievement. (In other words a Challenging Position is Essential).
6-I learned what I know from both my mentors and experience and enjoying sharing what I know with others who want to improve themselves. (Passing it on in other words)
7-Out of box concept development whether it be in emergency situations, creative brain storming or basic review of stagnant or inefficient practices, systems or procedures.

GLR Resources, writing the PLC and SCADA software programs. Also designing and sourcing the distribution, control, and electrical systems for proposed automated mill for unmanned refining at 5000 tons per day. Electrical budget of $8 Million created for Bank Study and running demo of HMI also created.

Mine site DeBeers Victor Project in Northern Canada. I provided electrical support for their concrete and power systems.

Ocampo Gold Mine Mexico

Manger of steel erecting, welding, crane equipment and supervisor of associated crews. My crews consisted of over 120 Mexican nationals. My duties consisted of labour and equipment costing and projections that were based on project drop date dates and budget targets and daily crew targets. I implemented a performance based reward system for individuals and crews, (barbeques etc. when targets met). Conduct daily safety and strategy meetings with all section foremen and crews with emphasis on health and safety. Generate accurate and reliable reporting to my manager informing him of all critical variables in a form that is useful.

Pemington Mine Chile - Manager Brent McFarlane

My duties consisted of developing a maintenance system for the underground and heavy equipment.
Also installed and commissioned 3 synchronous generators for the mill, designed and conducted several changes to mill floatation cyclones and ball mill to boast recovery returns. Mine was closed following avalanche and did not recover.
Reason for Leaving, mine closure, and offered job with same manager in Mexico.

2003/2004 Approx 2 Years
Electrical Superintendent South West Division
Lafarge Corporation

My duties over saw the operations of all electricians and plant modifications for the division and also supervised the $1.5 million electrical budget of a $12 million gyratory crusher installation all MCC units, sub stations, SCADA and HMI. All instrumentation, PLC and HMI are Allen Bradley and Omron. Communication over data Highway.
Designed several high voltage substations over 1 megawatt each and motor control centres totalling 8,000 hp, 2 miles of power distribution and the construction of a 5 MW watt power house.
Designed programmed and installed a computer control station for the power plant which engaged and disengaged units as load demanded in order to conserve fuel.
There were in this division over 34 concrete plants and asphalt plants and any new projects or contractor work was under my approval and supervision including training of staff and safety responsibilities of all electricians and systems under the division.
Reason for leaving, family emergency.

This was my company and performed contract installations for many different Industrial companies such as;
Crothers (Toromont) major powerhouse installations and other support equipment for this Caterpillar dealer. I also provided other services not available from the dealer, it was a symbiotic relationship and we worked well together.
Gilbertson Inc.-Aggregate control systems, power management and other cost control systems all Allen Bradley and Omron.
Miller Paving- Aggregate and Asphalt Systems, HMI, PLC and Instrumentation.
Lafarge-Aggregate control and Instrumentation, VFD, HMI and PLC programming Allen Bradley, Omron, Mitsubishi.
Provided PLC and SCADA design and programming for other smaller companies.
Emergency backup generator support and repair for several local hospitals.

1983 / 1992
Crothers Limited Toronto Power Division
Caterpillar Dealer for Ontario (Now Toromont)

Trained to repair large electrical power units both diesel and methane gas.
Designed and developed instrumentation and process control systems.
Developed logic and programmed PLC controllers (Omron, Mitsubishi, Idec).
Designed CAD drawings, schematics, built control panels and cabinets for control of multiple generator systems, co/gen, emergency, early warning and portable units.
Trained by factory in troubleshooting and calibrating of Woodward governor control systems. This included both hydraulic and electronic speed control with load sharing.
Flown to remote mine sites for large-scale diesel electric generation plants and power houses. This was to commission, oversee construction and later developing maintenance programs and train on site staff.
Design and building of control panels for control of generators and loading systems, for clients such as department of national defence, hospital emergency backup and many large banking towers, several of these control cabinets containing over 1km of control wiring.
Conducted on site loading of generators and tested automatic systems in hospitals and other critical situations.
Designed and build portable power plants for temporary power in mine sites, crushing plants and other mobile requirements up to 5 Mw.

Flown regularly to Arctic Circle for military, government facilities and Native Reserves for emergency trouble shooting and repairs of generators.
