Birth: 7th October 1985
Birthplace: Goondiwindi, Queensland
Objective:
My mission is to live everyday with passion and integrity to be a more effective person by consistently developing my core principles while empowering others to make a positive difference in their life. This requires challenging myself in every role and compelling myself to achieve success through constant and never-ending improvement.
Work Experience:
Apr 09- Rio Tinto Pilbara Iron Paraburdoo, WAHaul Truck Operator Completing pit experience to qualify for Quarry Managers Certificate.
Aug 08- Mar 09 (7m) Rio Tinto Pilbara Iron Paraburdoo, WAScheduling Engineer (Grade Control)After 8 months as a run planner I then stepped up into an open position as a mine scheduler in the operations planning team. I stayed in this role for 7 months. -Mine scheduling is broken into three major areas; production, development and port. It was my job to;
* schedule the drill rigs on site to achieve broken stock monthly targets* ensure bench development was aligned with the short-term plan development strategy
. There were three meetings a week with the development supervisors and drill and blast engineers to get reasons for variations to plans and to discuss the plan going forward.
* select the high-grade iron ore blocks that will be present in the next build/stockpile to be railed out. Quantity, quality and the development strategy affected block pick decisions.
* Generate weekly production plans using the Xact software, which the run planners are to implement on a day-by-day basis. This plan entailed the dig plan for each dig unit on site and allocating the correct number of trucks to each dig unit to achieve target production rates. Many variables were addressed in this plan including plant and digger maintenance times, feed rates for different material, grade variations and projects.
* Schedule trains and set arrival times for trains and issue to loadout. This side of scheduling required us to communicate with schedulers from the port operations to discuss tonnes and grades that our site will be receiving and to communicate to them the number of trains we require to rail our product out. Scheduling, I found, was a big role as it required you to know what was going on in the entire operation so the correct decisions could be made.
Jan 08-Aug 08 (8m) Rio Tinto Pilbara Iron Paraburdoo, WARun Planning Engineer (Grade Control)I started my first year as a graduate in Paraburdoo, working for Rio Tinto at an iron ore mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. My first position was in the operations planning department as a run planner/grade controller. My responsibility as a run planner involved;
* Inspecting all current mining faces every morning and communicating issues and changes to supervisors face-to-face
* Creating the daily production plans and communicating this to the supervisors and team leaders in charge of pit operations.
* Ensure production were mining in the right place and the right projects were being followed through.
* Marking up blast patterns with white tape to separate high grade blocks from waste blocks
* Making geology decisions as whether to take material as HG or throw as waste from material inspections* Coordinate survey pickups and markups, and production cleanupsI gained many teamwork skills, and communicating skills as it was my job to communicate my plan to those involved.
Nov06-Feb07 (4m) Zinifex Century Mine Lawn Hill, QLDMining Engineer Assistant (Vacation Student)Worked as a drill and blast and short-term planning engineer assistant. Required operating Surpac, a computer program used for the planning and operations of the mine. I was involved in;
* Blasting procedures
* Designing drill patterns and load sheets for waste and ore patterns
* Daily pit inspections
* Post-blast Analyses
* Attending and communicating at a daily operations planning meeting
* Generating 24hr plan maps on Surpac for visual display for supervisors
* Working on a major project of designing an easy, efficient pre-split schedule, which involved a lot of discussion with Orica contractors and drill and blast engineers. The project resulted in a schedule displaying drilling, charging and firing of presplits that would have minimal affect on production
* Collecting data for my final year thesis – Tyre Management at Century Mineo Spent 1 week in tyre bay and assisted tyre changes on Komatsu 830E haul trucks
Oct06-Nov06 Encompass Events Brisbane, QLD MerchandisingCasual work that involved travelling to places and events and advertising products for Castlemaine Perkins. Included setting up and pulling down posters, banners, flags and general merchandising equipment.
