Manage four dragline operations utilizing the machines in stripping and mining applications, this includes planning, operation, and maintenance.
Direct supervision of three site superintendents.
Working with dragline crews have reduced cost at operations by fifteen percent.
Working with customers to optimize the mine plan to meet production and cost requirements.
Analyze mining operations, determine equipment requirements, manpower needs and preparing proposals for our operation of the equipment.

January 1996 to March 1999
Plant Superintendent Unimin Corporation, LeSueur, MN
Kasota and Ottawa Plants
Responsible for all mining and processing operations at the two silica sand mining operations with annual capacity of 1.4 million tons per year.
Direct and plan mining and processing activities for two silica sand operations.
Direct supervision of eight supervisors and indirect supervision of fifty-eight hourly represented employees.
Modified pumping system to allow a twenty percent increase in productivity without any additional horsepower, allowing overall plant energy consumption to decrease by ten percent.
Improved quarry conveyor production by nine percent while improving availability by four percent.

September 1991 To January 1996
Mine Superintendent Cargill Fertilizer, Inc., Fort Meade, Florida
Responsible for all mining activities at a 3.0 million ton per year phosphate mine
Direct and plan mining operations with three major draglines and four pumping systems.
Direct supervision of seven supervisors and indirect supervision of seventy-five hourly represented employees.
Redesigned and upgraded tailings pumping system eliminating twenty percent of horsepower used while increasing distance pumped by fifteen percent.

Redesigned and upgraded matrix pumping system reducing horsepower on line by twenty percent while maintaining a pumping rate of 1,500 cubic yards per hour.
Serve as Mine Manager in his absence.

April 1991 to August 1991
Shift Superintendent Ruffner Mine, Arch of West Virginia, Yolyn, West Virginia
Responsible for all production, maintenance and coal preparation activities on second shift at a major mountain top removal mine, utilizing three electric shovels, seven large loaders and a fifty yard dragline to mine 2.2 million tons of coal per year.
Direct supervision of three production foremen, two maintenance foremen, one prep plant foreman and indirect supervision of seventy hourly represented (UMWA) employees.
Set mine record for amount of material moved on a shift.
Set mine record for amount of material moved by one shift in a month.

January 1990 To March 1991
Drilling and Blasting Foreman Ruffner Mine, Arch of West Virginia, Yolyn, West Virginia
Directed seven certified blasters, five day shift drillers, and coordinated five drills (diesel and electric) on all shifts. Responsible for shooting thirty million bank yards per year.
Managed five million dollar explosives budget.
Designed and supervised all shots.
Designed and implemented successful cast blasting program for both dragline and contour mining.
Performed control blasting in restricted areas.

March 1988 to December 1989
Senior Mine Engineer Ruffner Mine, Arch of West Virginia, Yolyn, West Virginia
Responsible for all engineering at Arch of West Virginia’s Ruffner Mine which mined seven coal seams and removed 350 feet of mountain top. Directed staff of three.
Prepared detailed development plans for the truck-shovel and dragline mining operation, and provided all engineering support as the mine was brought on-line as a major producer.
Developed accurate mine reports for mine performance, royalty payments and reclamation accruals.
Prepared reclamation plans and assisted environmental group with permitting.
Utilized Minex software on Vax computer.

February 1986 to February 1988

Directed staff of eight professionals responsible for all engineering at Arch of Illinois’ Captain Mine which mined 5.0 million tons of coal per year moving 45.0 million bank yards with a 180 yard stripping shovel, bucket wheel excavators and a 100 yard dragline.
Prepared detailed short-range mine plans and assisted planning group with preparation of five year plan and life of mine plans.
Assisted Mine Manager with implementation of long range mine plans.
Provided Mine Management with accurate production and reclamation reports.
Prepared five-year mine plans, life of mine plans, and scheduled the development of new mines to meet shipment requirements of the division.
