PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
C-B Contractors, Inc. - Boise, Idaho (1998- Present)
An $11+m concrete construction company specializing in industrial, commercial and retail construction.
General Manager
Responsible for all functional, financial and operating aspects for a privately held concrete construction firm. Highlights include:
-Total business reorganization for the purpose of financial growth, cash flow management, and asset (employees and equipment) protection.
-Assisted in profitable revenue increases from $1.75m to over $11.5m in sales while maintaining financial liquidity, low debt and a very lean firm.
-Created all systems, policies & procedures for human resources; accounting & cost control; OSHA (1910, 1926, 40 CFR's), federal & multi-state level compliance; and overall management of the company. Recruit, hire and train personnel.
-Responsible for scheduling, procurement, job set-up, estimating, budgeting, cost control, change orders, QC, punch-lists, etc. for projects up to $2.0m throughout the western U.S.
-Assist the Owners in all short and long-term planning and decision-making. Helped take the company to the rank of 84th largest concrete contractor in the United States in 2003 (ASCC).
-Successfully registered the corporation to conduct business in and expanded sales into Alaska, Arizona, California, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
-Hands-on manager responsible for all day-to-day operations for all functional areas with minimum staff to maintain low overhead and increased gross margins.
WORLD RESOURCES COMPANY - Phoenix, Arizona (1996-1998)
A hazardous waste recycling company producing material concentrates for the smelting industry.
Vice President, General Manager - Western U.S. and Pacific Rim Operations
Responsible for the direct P/L for a division of a privately held, multi-million dollar materials recycling company based in Mclean, Virginia. Highlights include:
-Oversaw all 24/7 processing of material wastes into kiln-dried and classified/graded mineral/metal feedstock to smelting customers. This included nickel, copper and precious metals composites.
-Leadership, recruitment and development of 65 operations, technical and marketing personnel for the Phoenix facility and offices in Taiwan and Malaysia.
-Lead all divisional sales and marketing activities for the Western U.S. and Pacific Rim. Set fee-based pricing strategies as well as specific goals & objectives. Achieved record annual sales volumes in 1997 with a client base of nearly 400.
-Maintained strict adherence to all local, state and federal DOT, safety and environmental regulations. Instrumental in the preparation and submittal of the facility RCRA Hazardous Waste Permit application for a treatment and storage facility (TSD).
-Managed all functional areas including, operations & maintenance, technical, transportation/logistics (truck & rail), information systems, accounting, HR, etc. for the division. Implemented a rotating 4/10 work schedule resulting in reduced overtime, increased productivity and improved morale.
CYPRUS-AMAX MINERALS COMPANY - Denver, Colorado (1985-1996)
A $100+m division (Cyprus-Foote Mineral) producing lithium, sodium and by-product chemicals, metals and industrial materials/minerals.
Manager - International Sales & Marketing - Kings Mountain, N. Carolina (1994-1996)
Responsible for sales and marketing of all lithium product lines in all countries outside the U.S. Primary market development regions included Central & South America, Japan & S.E. Asia, and Europe. Highlights include:
-Responsible for developing, planning, and implementing the company's international sales & marketing strategy; establishing controls and measures for success rate; analyzing marketing activities of the company and its competition; evaluating marketing channels and demand trends; and initiating, coordinating, and implementing promotional activities.
-Focus and guide the efforts of more than 30 agents and trading partners to service over 150 diversified customers. Created annual sales in excess of $45m generating record profit and revenue in 1995 & 1996. Key interface for division with production operations to meet customers chemical and physical product requirements.
-Created annual pricing strategies, budgets, and forecasts for the Company's international and domestic sales plan.
-Analysis and appraisal of technological trends in industries served to maximize short and long-term profit, revenue, cash flow, and capital investment.
Operations/General Manager - Silver Peak, Nevada Operations (1990 - 1994)
Responsible for the management and coordination of all activities for a 24/7 chemical/industrial material manufacturing plant and solution mine producing lithium carbonate and sodium/potassium/magnesium chloride products. Highlights include:
-Leadership and empowerment for a work force of up to 110 people, including construction & contract mining personnel. Consistently achieved or exceeded overall productivity, financial, and safety (OSHA) & environmental (NDEP) goals and objectives. Achieved over 1,000,000 man-hours without a lost-time accident (company record).
-Oversaw all chemical and physical processing for liquid to solid state from raw material feed, centrifuging, phase change, vacuum filtering, drying, classification, conveyance/material handling, packaging & logistics. This included all atmospheric and waste water process controls.
-Managed all location functions and controlled an annual operating and capital budget up to $20m. Initiated & oversaw an $11m capital plant expansion completed on budget in 1995.
-Formulated strategies for maximization of P/L, cost containment, productivity, and capital expenditures to optimize use of funds and reduce risks to personnel and assets with an estimated replacement value of over $100m.
-Lead all TQM activities to ensure employee empowerment, internal and external customer satisfaction, and retention of ISO-9002 registration achieved in 1993. Communicated and coordinated activities with corporate sales and customer service to increase customer satisfaction.
