CAREER EXPERIENCE:
Over six years experience working as an engineering and environmental geologist. Major duties include manage,coordinate and field supervise all drilling activities and field work for large scale geotechnical and environmental projects for government and industrial clients in the eastern United States and Africa.
-Field classification of soil and rock type, borehole and well logging, development of subsurface profiles, process samples for laboratory soil and chemical analysis, generate reports and drawings for review by senior staff detailing field activities and lab results.
While enrolled in university I worked as a sedimentology lab technician. Major duties included processing and classifying selected representative samples from Arctic Ocean basin drill cores:
- Wet and dry sieve analysis; standard light microscopy, visual identification of fossil biota, magnetic grain separation via the Frantz device; clay mineral analysis via X-ray diffraction; and iron-oxide grain analysis via an electron microprobe
Prior to enrolling in university I worked as a geotechnical and environmental driller. Major duties included: Operation of several drill rigs using various drilling methods for geotechnical and environmental exploration and sampling.
- Utilized hollow stem augers, mud rotary, air rotary, down–hole rock hammer, and rock coring drilling methods; obtained geotechnical and environmental soil samples; logged boreholes; installed ground water monitoring wells; welding; maintained pipe inventory; maintained drill rigs and support trucks.
