Paramedic – I
This intense course is presented by the Netcare 911 School of Emergency and Critical Care, over a period of one year. I passed this course and achieved summa cum laude as well as the highest ever total aggregate achieved at the Kwa-Natal campus.
This is the intermediate pre-hospital emergency training course (paramedic-I), looking more in-depth into the modules covered in the above course, and covering the following additional modules. This is a professional qualification with registration as an independent practioner with Health Professions Council of South Africa (ANA 90085).

* Use of various diagnostic devices
* Emergency, invasive surgical procedures

ACLS
Advanced Cardiac Life Support course, focusing on cardiology and use of advanced cardiac drugs in addition to the modules covered in the above mentioned courses. Advanced airway management, management of acute coronary syndromes, ECG recognition and the management of the cardiac arrest patient, the peri-arrest patient and stroke management form part of the course curricula. Advanced procedures such as transcutaneous pacing, synchronized DC cardioversion and the use of ALS drugs are covered. This was obtained through the American College of Emergency Physicians, and is the highest qualification in regards to cardiovascular care in the pre-hospital environment.
Aviation Healthcare Assistant
This course covers the management and care of critically ill & injured patients in the out of hospital environment. It covers flight & altitude physiology, hypoxia, aeromedical transfer of the neonate, basic workings of helicopter & fixed wing aircraft & survival techniques.
Remote Medical Training
The RMT course covers all aspects of remote medicine as encountered by remote site medics. The course covered all modules listed in the paramedical training and included modules on camp site management, health & hygiene, wound care & suturing, intravenous & intraosseous cannulation, advanced drug administration, advanced airway techniques (incl surgical airways), catheterization, pain management, Malaria management & infectious diseases, setting up a remote clinic, evacuation procedures. This was an incredibly intense training program.
Emergency Response Planning and Development of emergency systems – Michigan State University (USA) (approved e-training)
This course focuses on the development and implementation of emergency response plans and emergency systems, both within the industrial and community environment, with a primary focus on risk mitigation and disaster management.
HAZMAT – Awareness level - Michigan State University (USA) (approved e-training)
This course focuses on HAZMAT incident awareness and management of hazardous scenes/environments.
Coupled with exposure and response to HAZMAT incidences during fire response duties, this allows for improved handling and management of such scenarios.
Incident Management Systems – Michigan State University (USA) (approved e-training)
Focusing on over-all incident management of various scenarios and emergency situations, this course equips the candidate with sufficient planning and resource knowledge to efficiently manage large incidences. Training extends further than emergency resource management, with issues such as logistics and recovery also being addressed.
Inspection of water-based fire suppression systems – Michigan State University (USA) (approved e-training)
This course outlines the inspection and checking of water-based fire suppression systems within an industrial environment. Planning, inspection and correction of faults within water-based fire suppression systems is covered in this course.
Operational Safety and Security (Homeland Security Institute – Washington USA) (approved e-training)
Operational Security awareness focuses on applying the risk management model to health and safety aspects of emergency services operations, including program management, day-to-day operations, and incident safety.
Incident Command Systems IS100 and IS200 (Homeland Security Institute – Washington USA) (approved e-training)
The IS100 and IS200 training courses, incorporate all aspects of emergency response and management to allow for the efficient managing and co-ordinating of incidences of all natures. Further to the incident command factor, recovery and rehabilitation of resources and effected areas are also addressed.

The above was applied to a work force in excess of three thousand employees, on what is said to be Africa's largest ever mine development site. Contractors on site and audited, included concerns such as: Group Five, Hitachi USA, BP Fuels, Kwikspace, Sandvik and WBHO construction. This project is valued in excess of R700 million USD.

* Rendering emergency medical care, in accordance with the HPCSA protocols
* Health and Safety co-coordinator for the Netcare 911 Central operation, as well as HSE and Risk Management consulting for Netcare 911 industrial clients (including Natal Ports Authority and other large industrial operations)

* Established and ran the first Netcare 911 Emergency Scene Safety and Rescue vehicle in Natal. This included disaster management services and planning to our industrial clients. I managed to establish this unit through obtaining sponsorships from major companies and concerns, as this was a solely sponsorship funded initiative.
