In addition, I recruited and trained the local mechanics to work on the operation. 1990-1995 Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting, Leaf Rapids, Manitoba, Canada. Employed as a Heavy Duty Lead Mechanic – Underground Copper Mine I repaired scoop trams, trucks and Tamrock drilling equipment. I overhauled major components for all underground mining and drilling equipment i.e. engines, transmissions and final drives. This included Clarke, Wagner and Caterpillar mobile equipment. 1988-1990 Ove Arup Ltd., London, England. Based in Tanzania, East Africa. Workshop Foreman I ran the workshop operation which involved overhauling the Parker Crusher and maintaining the support equipment i.e. Caterpillar loading shovels, Tamrock and Airtrack drills and pumps. I supervised the workshop and the training of a staff of local mechanics in a hands-on operation to ensure the maintenance and smooth running of the equipment for the Songea Makumbaku highway operation. In addition, I was responsible for all repairs and maintenance to all camp generators and equipment in a difficult environment. This work involved training local labor with limited resources in a very remote location. Use of initiative, improvisation and self-motivation was a major aspect of this contract. 1982-1988 Biwater International U.K. Various locations overseas Mechanic Assistant Supervisor and then in 1984 promoted to Workshop Supervisor.
