SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
Having been in the construction industry since 1969, mainly in the petrochemical area, my experience covers a wide range of field activities in both quality control management and technical supervision of pipework and mechanical installations on major projects.
From 1973 I have held positions of responsibility with various inspection companies and project management groups and have a successful career record as project manager, quality control manager, inspection administrator, welding consultant, quality control auditor etc., in compliance with ISO 9000 / ISO 9001 quality systems and practices.
My experience has been gained on a variety of contracts, from industrial pipework to plant engineering over a wide range of industries including petroleum refineries, petrochemical plants, gas and oil production platforms, power plants, and onshore / offshore pipelines at various locations in the Middle East, North East Africa, South East Asia, India, China, Australia and New Zealand.
Over the years my duties have included responsibility for the inspection and consultation of determining welding techniques, developing welding procedures, physically monitoring weld procedure trials from welding through to final mechanical acceptance. On all classes of process and utility piping systems for fuel oil, petroleum by-products, condensate-natural gas-compressed air pipelines, pumping stations, heavy fabrication construction of offshore platforms and associated modules. Utilizing for inspection, testing and quality control – local and expatriate manpower of either direct labour or contract hire.
I have had the responsibility of coordinating and controlling inspection staff through all stages of fabrication and assembly ensuring that progress liaison is maintained with engineering personnel managing projects.
Having experience of engineering design and drawing office practices and being familiar with the relevant British, American, Australian and New Zealand piping design codes and standards, I am aware of the considerations applicable to piped service covering hydrocarbon processing, liquid, gasses and vacuum systems.
I was responsible for carrying out complete mechanical inspections of final installations ensuring compliance to material and design specifications, raising "punch lists" as necessary, detailing the circuits for hydrostatic or pneumatic pressure tests, working in close liaison with client engineers inspecting actual tests and obtaining final hand over acceptance certificates
