* Designed, organized and performed laboratory activities to establish alkali-surfactant-polymer (ASP) formulations to the reservoirs LL-03 and VLA 6/9/21, involving fluids characterization, conventional and special core studies. Fluids studies involved: phase behavior to oil-water-surfactant systems, optimum polymer concentration, critical micelar concentration and ultra low interfacial tension to surfactants. Rheological behavior, molecular weight effects, thermal stability (bottle tests, anaerobic chamber), fluids compatibility, solubility, interfacial phenomena and compatibility of polyelectrolytes and additives in formation, injection and soft water. Evaluated Antiscalants. Conducted Coretestings and Fluid-rock interactions tests: chemical retention, Absolute and relative permeability, capillary pressure, wettability, porosity, pore volume and oil recovery.
* Studied the surfactant/polymer interactions by rheology and tensiometry.
* Contributed to the technological risk analysis for an ASP full field application and worked as a part of a team to generate a pilot design to determine the effect of gas lift on the produced fluids and the effect of the transport of injected blends on the viscosity at the experimental well "CEPRO"
* Coordinated and oversaw the quality control and preparation of whole slug of ASP injected in the well 1325, during the pilot test "SWCT" to evaluate the efficiency of ASP process in Lagomar field (offshore). On-site inspection of the barge facilities to evaluate mixers and tanks integrity. Installation of equipments required to monitor and ensure the quality of the polymer and surfactant blends, previous the pilot test
* Performed water/oil separation in the field using portable separator and demulsifiers. Oil and water (Brine) tests by ASTM, API and SMWW methods.
* Analyzed asphaltenes content, water and sediment content in crude oil by (ASTM 4007-02, API MPMS Ch. 10.3/10.2), density, specific and API gravity, carbonates and bicarbonates in brines (Alkalinity), chlorides, total dissolved and total suspended solids in brines.
* Served as a technical support in project "Exploitation and unconventional uses of heavy and extra heavy oils" to demonstrate the cracking and hydrogenation of heavy oil by electrochemical treatment.
* Technical support during the injection and sampling of tracers in the Lagomar field.
* Supported the preparation, mixed and injection of emulsions with heavy oil at the FN-2 well, Furrial field.
Associated Research Technician III (Field technician) to both Projects "Support to the Integrated Studies to the fields: Centrolago (offshore) and El Furrial(onshore)". 1992/1996
* Investigated the fluid-fluid compatibility and fluid-rock compatibility through filtration tests and fines migration studies (critical velocity) on oil free and aged cores and helped scale data to field condition.
* Carried out reactivity tests of heavy oil to activate natural surfactants.
* Sampled oil-water to extract chemical and radioactive tracers to monitor water breakthrough in production wells and sampled H2S at wells of the Furrial field. Designed and improved the laboratory facilities for treatment and separation of oil/water samples containing tracers using demulsifiers, ultrasound and electrical treatment. Collaborated with the risk analysis using the methodology "What IF" to use this process in laboratory.
* Sampled light oil with needles on well head and well pipe (HP&HT) to geochemistry analysis.
* Selected and evaluated HT resistant polymers and its blends with alkali-surfactant for HT reservoirs.
Principal Research Technician, Reservoir Technology Department, 1989/1992
* Set up systems with different types of porous media and handled the tomography technique to evaluate the distribution of fluids inside the cores.
* Performed extra-heavy and heavy oil thermal treatment tests using hydrogen donors, methane, water and steam in static & dynamic conditions. Evaluated the steam injection with solvents on heavy crude oil. Characterized these samples by density, °API, viscosity and thermal analysis.
* Conducted the preparation/injection of polymer/biopolymer solutions in reservoir cores to evaluate flow parameters; injectivity, resistance factor (RF) residual resistance factor (RRF), brine injection, oil recovery and polymer retention, monitoring polymer concentrations by UV-Visible spectrometry and HPLC.
