I am writing to you at the suggestion of CAREER builder. I feel that my skills would be a great match for the open position you currently have in your facility.
With over 30 years' experience as a boring mill machinist, I can offer your company both top-notch creative services as well as a strong set of technical skills. In my previous positions has led me to your door and our future.
My goal is to make money for my employer. In turn I expect to be well compensated for my abilities.
I am a CNC Boring Mill Machinist. Note that I did not say operator; for I have never been an operator; but a Machinist.
I started in the Machinist trade in 1974 as an Assembler for two years as I went to night school and studied Machine Tool Operations. I learned from an old Tool and Die Maker. It is ironic as I think back to those days. He said, Dave, you will be one hell of a man in the Machinist trade because you care a great deal and have a high standard of workmanship.
As I progressed in trade school, a position opened up for a Mill Hand at company in Illinois called Hills McCanna. I was the only one who applied and in a week I was taking a 1in. Hog Mill 2in. Iong and I buried it in stainless 316. I was taught by an old Polack. Within two years I was on the Bridge Ports doing small castings; ones that they needed to fill an order. All this time I was looking to better myself. My foreman said, "Dave, you are making me so much money on little toy Bridge Ports its time to move onto Devliegs." This is where I stayed, not at Hills McCanna, but at boring mills. I learned CNC at Accura Tool and Mold on a Matsurra. We had Mazaks and no one knew Fanucs control, Mitsubishi 3000 I taught myself in 1990 and I loved It. I did mold plate cores and cavities, side locks pins and everything.
One thing I did that others could not, was to hold. 0001. It is not easy, but as long as I took it step by step and followed my plan I was great at it. I feel as good as I think I am and that I can be that much better, To better myself. I may say something here that I learned long ago that the machine has to be square to the spindle and that can only be checked by putting an indicater over the spindle on the table and moving the saddle in and out along the spindle and adjusting the saddle up or down lazers do not work good enough in my opinion or down lazers do not work good enough in my opinion. A s you will read I feel I am worth the money that I want which is 25.00 an hour.
Thanks for taking the time to know me I know I would be a great addition to your team.
