OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Environmental Scientist, Public Service Comm. 1981-1985
Supervised inspection and enforcement of active coal mining in the State of North Dakota. Served as a data processing specialist for the Reclamation Division, which regulates coal mining within the State of North Dakota. Computer graphics were employed to illustrate topographic and environmental changes that result from mining and reclamation activities. Reviewed vegetation, land use and wildlife sections of coal mining permits.

Lecturer, Mary College, Bismarck, ND 1982-1983
Taught introductory courses in computer science.

Adjunct Professor, Continuing Studies Program, North Dakota State University, Fargo. 1983-1984
Instructed public school teachers and administrators in several rural towns on the use of Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium(MECC) software for Apple computers.

Adjunct Prof. of Math., Bismarck State College 1985-1992
Taught credit and non-credit computer science courses at the collegiate level. Developed course curricula for the non-credit courses which were taught through an adult education program.

Director, Abandoned Mine Lands(AML) Division, Public
Service Commission 1985-Present
Administer a federally-funded program to reclaim abandoned coal mines in North Dakota. An annual budget of nearly two million dollars is used to repair sites which are potentially hazardous to the public. I draft the division budget and defend it before the Commission and the State Legislature.

I supervise four full-time and one part-time staff. I ensure that grant applications are submitted in a timely manner to the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement(OSMRE) and serve as Chief Procurement Officer for professional and construction services. I initiate public meetings to provide for comment on planned reclamation, conduct preliminary analysis of potential reclamation sites and acquire requisite concurrence from State and Federal agencies for threatened and endangered species assessments and cultural resource evaluations. I developed a "home page" on the Internet (http://www.psc.state.nd.us/psc/jursidiction/aml.html) that describes current AML activities. The current internet site was populated using Dreamweaver MX; the Intrant site was designed and populated using FrontPage 2000.

Private Consultant(General Partner), OK SYSTEMS 1986-Present
Customized database programming, web design, installation and administration of Local Area Networks (LAN) and construction of computers from scratch to user specifications.
