* Core Logging: At Stillwater, I learned how to log core from the mine and analyze it for the company's interest. I was responsible for going through 300+ feet of core and identifying different mineralogical contacts and finding the 7 foot wide "reef zone." My report of the Ore Ton Percentage of this stratigraphic unit would help determine if it was worth the company's financial interest to develop in a certain part of the mine.

* Mark Headings: I was taught how to mark mine headings for miners and to keep accurate record of daily reports in a field notebook. Samples were also taken almost daily on headings and I would input the data onto the computer system to record and compare the sample ore ton percentages.

* Blue Line Headings: I would work side-by-side with Senior Geologists and mark long passages of contacts where the "reef zone" occurred. These markings would eventually be surveyed and blasted for mining. An accurate mark of the contact was absolutely necessary to keep the company's ore ton percentage as high as possible.

* Management Skills: I would often be in a position of managing numerous employees with certain tasks. It would be my responsibility to get a job done in an efficient manner. Through respect, empathy and understanding of those working under me, I was consistently able to do so.
* Persistence/Work Ethic:
* Different farm crops require different water timing rotations. I would often change heads of water at midnight and then wake up at 5:00 am to change another.
* Playing college football at RMC and working on a farm taught me persistence. Lifting weights is a huge part of being a college football player and demands one to lift at least four days a week. In the last four years as a college athlete, I have only missed three weightlifting sessions.
* As a first year college football redshirt, there were 65 recruited freshman players on the football team. At the end of our senior year, there were only 5 of us that finished.
* Working on a farm taught me how to be reliable. At Stillwater Mining Company, travel arrangements were in the very early hours in the morning. I would consistently wake up at 3:00 am and return home at 8:00 pm five or six times a week.
