CAREER SUMMARY
2000 – 2004 Jacobs Engineering Ltd (contract)
Control /Instrumentation Engineer

September 2004 - present.
Currently located at the Jacobs Leiden office, responsible to Lead Engineer, whilst working on instrument specifications and design for an INtools based, Oil & Gas project (Shell SNR).

October 2003 - August 2004.
Jacobs, (Leiden - NL) Clean Diesel Refinery project for Conoco-Phillips (Honeywell DCS). Instrument Specifications and data sheets for Pressure, Temperature, Level and analyzer instruments. On-going database administration and 'live' piping / mechanical interface for 3D model and instrument installation contractor.

Sulphur Recovery Unit for Shell (France).
Worked as an integral member of a small team, main tasks were Instrument, Analyzer & valve specifications, data sheets, requisitioning and purchase. Database control, inter-discipline liaison (including 'live' Piping/Mechanical interface for 3D model)
Also completed part-time work on two Front End design packages, including the development of datasheets and specifications for in-line instrument & valves, VESDA and F&G system investigation and cost estimation.

August 2002 - Sept. 2003
Located in the Manchester office, completed a 10% man-hour and costing estimate before beginning the detailed design phase of a pharmaceuticals project for Novartis (Emerson Delta V DCS – Foundation Fieldbus). As a member of a large design team, tasks included instrument datasheets & specification (including all Relief valves, flow and pressure instruments) instrument requisitioning, Access database control and piping mechanical liaison and review for 3D model.

May 2001 - August 2002
Worked in Jacobs, Leiden (The Netherlands) office, on a Shell petrochemical project (Emerson Delta V DCS, Yokogawa FSC SGS), after completing the cost and man-hour estimate phase, main tasks included Instrument and Analyzer specifications, data sheets and requisitioning. Inter-discipline activities (including Piping/Mechanical interface and review of 3D model and process liaison), administration of in-house EDB (Engineering Data Base) software to produce all project datasheets and a variety of instrumentation, cable and termination schedules for instrument designers.

October 2000 - May 2001
As a leader of a small team, conducted a survey of existing plant instrumentation (Rhodia Pharmaceutical facility), analyzing its conformance to process conditions and possibility for re-use. Prior to that I spent several months located at Astra-Zeneca's Macclesfield site, working as part of an integral design team, upgrading a Pharmaceuticals installation (SRP). Major tasks included instrument & valve specifications & data sheets, requisitioning, installation contractor liaison, installation contractor scope of work development & package unit control and interfacing.

1996 – 2000 Simon-Carves Ltd
Control /Instrumentation Engineer
Reporting to principal/chief engineer, I undertook a number of tasks throughout the detailed design process for a variety of process chemical plants. (Clients including Astra-Zeneca, EVC, Bechtel, Exxon, Kemya & Kodak). Projects have included:

1999-2000 Astra/Zeneca P4 Agrochemical Project
Design & construction of a Brownfield Agrochemical facility (Emerson Delta V DCS and hard-wired trip systems)
Instrumentation and Valve Specifications and data sheets, Interface rack, Local panel testing & DCS I/O allocation and control, client PCS team liaison.
Design, development and control of instrumentation database, producing all necessary design team schedules, including cable, termination and instrument index.

1999 Exxon/Kemya LPDE Project
Design & Construction of a Greenfield LPDE process facility. (Honeywell DCS)
Specification / purchase of a variety of hazardous area equipment for a Saudi Arabian LDPE project. Tasks also included client/vendor liaison, package unit control and database administration. Administration / control & development of INTOOLS database.

1999 Kodak VOC Rejuvenation Project
The upgrading of an existing plant including the addition of a VOC unit.
Instrument Engineer involved in all aspects of instrumentation from rack /field instrument layout, installation specification, development of control loop diagrams, specification and purchase of a variety of items (including monitoring equipment), man-hour/cost estimation and control.
Managing change at all stages of the detailed design through to the construction phase.

1997-1998 Astra-Zeneca Az2 Agrochemical Project
Design & Construction of an Agrochemical process facility, (Emerson Delta V DCS and hard-wired trip systems)
Instrument engineer with responsibility for all aspects of the instrument database (PARADOX format). Control of DCS I/O allocation, control room layout and valve specifications and control.

1996-1997 EVC/Bechtel PVC Rejuvenation Project
Working as an Instrument engineer, carried out various database tasks before spending 6 months on site at EVC's Runcorn installation. Major task undertaken was an instrument survey, ascertaining the actual plant condition before a rejuvenation project was implemented on a PVC facility.
