Gregory was born to English parents in Kenilworth, Cape Town, South Africa on 19 February 1957 and is now 45 yrs of age.

He attended Wynberg Boy’s High School in Cape Town where he matriculated. He partook in both Cricket and Rugby as sports as well as being a member of the Cadet Band in his final year during which period he received Provincial Colors representing his school in the National Competition.

Gregory’s home Language is English although he is also fluent in Afrikaans and hence understands and can communicate in Dutch. Gregory is of a Christian family and was baptized under the Church of England.

Gregory has a clean bill of health and enjoys Golf in his spare time and was always an active member of his local club. He is also a Certificated SCUBA Diver (NAUI 3rd Class) and also enjoys Canoeing.

Gregory has eighteen years experience in the South African Mining industry where he held the position of Production Mine Foreman and Training Officer. He has a wide range of hands on skills that include a large variety earthmoving machine operation, screening plant operation, dewatering and pumping operations and in particular drilling and blasting for which he holds the relevant driving licenses and blasting certificates.
He has well developed Managerial skills in both the Production and Training environments. He is well trained in Loss Control with particular reference to Health and Safety and is in possession a NOSA SAMTRAC safety certificate.
Gregory has work extensively in the Drilling and Blasting division of the De Beers flagship “Venetia” Open Cast Diamond Mines where he was responsible for the selection and procurement of all drilling consumables and the selection and maintenance of service contracts to the Drilling and Blasting Section.

S.S.I.Kaltex – An International Exploration and Mining Supply Specialist approached Gregory with an appointment offer based on his effectiveness in the field due his years of experience, knowledge and hands on skills from the open cast, down hole, rotary drilling industry.
He was responsible for managing the S.S.I.Kaltex/POCS drilling consumable contract in its entirety at the Anglo American Platinum Mine in Potgietersrus RSA where he relocated for two years during which period he improved production by 50%.
This was a particularly hands on position that included: Selection and Supply and the Performance monitoring of various drill bits, their cutting formations and carbide selection. The supply and maintenance of top subs, guide couplings, drill rods and deck bushes.

Due to his success he was promoted to Manager – Rock Tools based in Gauteng where he was responsible for the distribution of Rock Tools to the mining, quarry and drilling industry countrywide.
S.S.I.Kaltex withdrew their branch from RSA due to the economic climate and rather than remain in South Africa, Gregory and his wife Julie opted for immigrate to the UK.
Gregory is neat in appearance and robustly cheerful, punctual and a very reliable person in the workplace. He fits well into a team environment and is safety conscious towards himself and others.
