Attention: Sir or Madame:
Please accept this as an application for any position that may come available in Mobile Equipment Maintenance. I am a Mechanical Engineering Technologist as well as a certified Heavy Duty Mechanic with over 30 years of experience. I have excellent trouble shooting skills in hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems. I have rebuilt and repaired most Caterpillar engines, Detroit engines, Cummins engines, and others. Also have rebuilt transmissions, torques, final drives, pumps, and cross shafts on mostly Caterpillar equipment, and other machines.
I took my upgrading at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, where I studied grades 10, 11, and 12, then took the 2-year course in Mechanical Engineering Technology. I also studied a course of advanced Industrial Hydraulics at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
I have also got excellent computer skills, in both hardware and software. I have done some programming and have also built a computer from scratch.
I have had two overseas assignments, one in the Southern part of Russia and one in West Africa and enjoyed both.
I have worked in most capacities in a shop environment, as a floorhand, leadhand, foreman, and equipment superintendent. I’ve had to look after and plan the work for 3 shifts and also do the preventive maintenance planning of the equipment used in the mine. I would teach the apprentices, a safe and efficient way of doing their jobs as well as teach them the trade.
My computer skills include programming in Basic, Autocad, Microsoft Office Pro 2000, Microsoft 98, Microsoft Project and most of the previous versions from 1984 at the Dos level and up. I am also familiar with CMMS programs and have used afew.
I have also operated dozers, loaders, excavators, graders, and haul trucks.
I feel I would be a valuable asset to your company and would like to discuss my suitability in greater detail with you. I can be reached at the above address or phone number where a message will be taken for me if I am not readily available.
I am presently contracting to a small firm in NE British Columbia, but am free to negotiate new challenges.
