EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Jan 2008 – Current
Senior Environmental Geoscientist
GHD Pty Ltd - Western Australia
Key Duties:
a) Hydrogeology and hydrogeochemical evaluation of contaminated sites and groundwater contamination.
b) Hydrogeology and hydro-geochemical assessment (e.g., solute transport and processes) of waste rock/tailing dump facilities at mine sites.
c) ARD investigations and related projects management.

2006 – December 2007
Environmental/Senior Environmental Geoscientist
EWL Sciences (Energy Resources Australia Pty Ltd – Rio Tinto Group)
Earth-Water-Life Sciences Pty Ltd is a company of highly qualified and experienced environmental specialists based in Darwin but with staff in Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland. My role within the team predominantly addresses topics related to hydrogeochemistry, hydrogeology and soil science (both soil physics and chemistry).
Key completed projects
Project Manager of:
1.- Groundwater remediation beneath the Ranger Uranium Mine tailing storage facility (TSF).
Overall program aimed to present an understanding of TSF seepage processes and potential effects on groundwaters beneath and around the TSF.
2.- Review of Rangers statutory and operational boreholes as part of the long-term minesite rehabilitation programme
Overall project reviewed the validity of statutory and operational groundwater monitoring programs in relation to long-term groundwater management.
3.- Phase 2 contamination in the Regolith groundwater (Ranger Mine Operational and Landfill Areas)
The project in order to develop long-term plans to rehabilitate the operational areas in relation to mine site closure completed a hydrological and hydrogeochemical evaluation of contaminated sites at Ranger's operational areas.
4.- Assessment of water quality & the origin of surface pools – Ranger TSF
Project collated and interpreted historical and recent water quality data from samples attained in observation bores (OBs) and seepage pools near the TSF. Hydrogeochemistry data evaluation and geochemical modelling were the key tools to interpret overall seepage pool water quality and its influences on the surrounding environment.
5.- Aquatic sediment monitoring (Woodcutters)
The project completed a geochemical characterisation and evaluation of fate and spatial distribution of metals in sediments within the mine biopolishing pond and creek sediments from Woodcutters and Coomalie Creeks.
6.- Installation of observation boreholes and piezometers around Ranger's TSF
Projects were developed to monitor potential groundwater contamination due to TSF seepage influences and groundwater pattern modifications resulting from the raising of the TSF walls.

November 2005 – February 2006
Project Scientist/Geochemist
Water Management Consultants Pty Ltd.

Water Management Consultants (WMC) is an international group specialising in the development, management and environmental protection of water resources. Company provides technical services in a wide range of disciplines, including hydrogeology, geochemistry, and other related disciplines. My role predominantly addressed hydrogeochemistry related issues.

Achievements:
1. Investigated and analysed hydro-geochemical systems for long-term mine site rehabilitation and this included:
a) Pit-lake hydro-geochemistry modelling.
b) Ground-surface water: water balance and hydro-geochemistry data analysis.
2. Developed a short research on upscaling hydro-geochemical laboratory data to field medium conditions.

2. Characterized hydrological properties of tailing materials and tailing waste cover

1998 - 1999 Researcher
Auckland University of Technology (AUT) - (Auckland, New Zealand)
Reported to the Director of Trace Element Research Group (TERG). The position involved the development of a short research on "geochemical experiments to simulate and remediate acid mine drainage (AMD)". In order to remove a trace metal Zn2+ from an aqueous solution, the research investigated the adsorption/co-precipitation of Zn2+ onto/with iron hydroxide [Fe(OH)3].

1996 - 1997 Researcher
Solid Energy - Stockton Open Cast Coal Mine – (Westport, Buller District, New Zealand)
Reported to the Assistant General Manager of Stockton Mine Site and to the Research Leader Canterbury University. Achievements:
1. Physical, chemical and mechanical characterisation of waste rock materials
2. Assessed surface waters and underflow (leachate) quality as critical factor en long-term mine-site rehabilitation
3. Implemented and evaluated innovative static and kinetic tests to predict acid mine drainage. For this several column and humid cells were performed
4. Assessed stability of overburden waste rock stacks as integral part of the rehabilitation programme
5. Implemented guidelines for acid mine drainage (AMD) management
