Completed secondary school education at Mareeba High School, worked on family's cattle property for approx 2 years. The remaining 17 years working in the construction and open cut mining operations. Construction Industry experience involved mainly the operation of excavators and graders, with some leading hand experience. Mining Industry experience involved operating most types of mobile earthmoving equipment up to and including electric and hydraulic face shovels, hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, graders and up to 240 tonne dump trucks. Mine Superintendent (August 2004- Present)

South Kalimantan

Position of Mine Superintendent for the Kintap mining areas responsibilities included but not limited to daily operations of all mining activities. Drilling and blasting, load and haul, de-watering and haul road construction and maintenance. Health and Safety management of all employees aligns with the Thiess Contractors HS&E management plan and within the Indonesian statuary requirements guidelines.
Monthly production targeted on average 2.5 million BCM overburden with a strip ratio of approx 8:1, exposing and selectively mining up to 10 seams of coal, which varied in thickness from 50cm to 130cm. Dealing on a daily basis with the mining Engineers to ensure drill and blast requirements, scheduled overburden movement and coal mining operations are carried out efficiently and within budget forecasts.
Utilizing a full national workforce of approx 200 personnel, 6x 250 ton plus excavators, 35 rear dump trucks ranging from 100 to 200 ton and a full fleet of support machines dozers, graders and smaller excavators. With an average rainfall of 4 meters annually de-watering and haul road construction is a key job responsibility for the Superintendent position.

Sart up and commissioning of Suttor Creek open cut coal mine, responsibilities include design and construction of Go-Line and Workshop hard stand areas, approx 15 kilometres of primary haul roads for immediate coal hauling operations. Utilizing contract supervisors and operators along with hired mining equipment to develop the open cut mining area for immediate coal mining and the development of a dragline stripping operation.

Dealing on a daily basis with the mining Engineers to ensure drill and blast requirements, scheduled overburden movement and coal mining operations are carried out efficiently and within budget forecasts. Ensuring sub-contractor management and documentation aligns with the Health and Safety Management plan of Newlands Coal and within the statuary requirements guidelines.

Mine Superintendent (October 2002—February 2004)

Mine Superintendent responsibilities included but not limited to daily operations of all mining activities. Drilling and blasting, load and haul, de-watering and haul road construction and maintenance. Health and Safety management of all employees aligns with the REJV HSE management plan and within the statuary requirements guidelines. Providing guidance to the operator training programme to ensure that training aligns with the company's operator requirements.
Dealing on a daily basis with the mining Engineers to ensure drill and blast requirements, scheduled overburden movement and ore mining operations are carried out efficiently and within budget forecasts. Utilizing 150 personnel and co-ordinating 2 x 495BE rope shovels 1x RH 200 face shovel and 2 x 250 ton excavators with a large fleet of Komatsu 830 & 630 electric dump trucks. Monthly target overburden averaged at 2,800,000 BCM of total material movement.

Shift Supervisor (January 2000 – October 2002)

Responsible for the supervision of a shift crew of approx 50 employees ensuring safe efficient production 50,000 BCM material movement per shift. Entire load and haul fleet managed using the Modular Mining Dispatch system; overburden stripped utilizing electric and hydraulic face shovels with a fleet of Komatsu 830 electric dump trucks. The complex and multi seam ore with several large faults running through the ore body required selective mining with 2x 250 ton size excavators. A fleet of 630 electric dump trucks were also utilized during the ore mining operations. Integration of local indigenous trainees into the mining workforce through understanding and respect of indigenous culture and beliefs by ensuring a clear communication process was maintained. Successfully achieving forecast targets and goals in safety and production within a multi cultural working environment.

Equipment Operator Trainer

Front line production operator on various loading units; electric rope shovels, hydraulic face shovels, excavators and front end loaders. Training operators on all loading units including track & wheel dozers and graders, ensuring operators fully understand bucket fill times, equipment cycle times the effect of over and under trucking. All training carried out with the documentation of operators fully understanding safe work procedures.
