WORK EXPERIENCE

MECHANICAL FOREMAN – FILTRATION SECTION (2000 to date.) Mopani Copper Mines Plc – Cobalt Plant.

Duties

Supervised a staff of 10 people (6Artisans, 2 semi-skilled workers and 2 helpers) and I am responsible for maintenance of 51 pumps (centrifugal, piston, diaphragm, screw and gear pumps), 18 Hansen speed reduction gear boxes, 17 Emico filters, 2 10 ton Morris overhead cranes and various valve types, makes and sizes.
I liase with Sectional Engineer and Planner Scheduler on jobs that require investigative work aimed at improving maintenance techniques and I have managed a 40% reduction on breakdowns in my section so far.

MECHANICAL FOREMAN – PROJECTS (1999 – 2000)
Mopani Copper Mines Plc – Cobalt Plant

Duties

Supervised a staff of 10 people (4 Artisans, 4 semi-skilled workers and 2 helpers) and my main duties were to work on all long term projects, modification of equipment or drives and to work on all major breakdowns on the cobalt plant.

MECHANICAL FOREMAN – LEACH AND NEUTRALISATION SECTION (1997 – 1999)
Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines – Nkana Division (Cobalt Plant).

Duties

Supervised a staff of 12 people (5 Artisans, 4 Mechanics and 3 semi-skilled workers) and liase with Sectional Engineer and Planner Scheduler on jobs that required investigative work aimed at improving maintenance techniques on the plant.

MATERIALS COORDINATOR (1995 – 1997)
Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines – Nkana Division (Cobalt Plant).

Duties

Procured spares for the whole Cobalt plant, liased with respective end users on their requirements and with would be suppliers on the specification of the spares required, also made sure that spares were available on the day a planned job was due and liased with Sectional Engineer and Planner Scheduler on spares requisites as per budget limitations.

ARTISAN PLANT FITTER – ROASTER SECTION (1989 – 1995)
Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines – Nkana Division (Cobalt Plant).

Duties

My main duty was to maintain equipment in my section and to liase with my Foreman on jobs that required future planning on the plant. Under my charge were 4 semi-skilled workers whom I trained on the job and one later managed to qualify to Artisanship.

QUALIFICATIONS

I hold a full Form Five Certificate obtained in 1984 and a Crafts Certificate in Fitting obtained in 1989 after being Trade Tested in June 1988 and December 1988 respectively.
