Reason for research: To find out why production of coal bed
methane is low in some areas and other areas it is very high
when the wells are running at full capacity. Second goal was
to discover the locations of high walls, their production per
year, life of the mine, and location of coal bed methane wells
on the property. Method of Research: Performed research on
the Powder River Basin’s coal mining and coal bed methane.
Research consisted of reviewing documents on internet, library
and reviewing maps. While researching the coal bed methane,
the hydrology of the Powder River Basin was also looked at and
studied in detail. Results: Discovered that the hydrology
and water flow in the Powder River Basin will affect the
production of coal bed methane.
