Objective: QA/QC Inspector

Work Experience

September 2003 – Present. Contracted by Kleinfelder as QA/QC on various structural steel projects (i.e., office buildings and the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge). T.Bailey/Katana, Ind. as QC manager on wind tower fabrication project ("rolled and milled cans" using ASME Sec. V, VIII & IX specs.). Suzlon Wind Energy, QA Project manager for N. America, overseeing wind tower fabricators.

February 2003 – September 2003. Contracted by Professional Services, Inc. (PSI) and STI Northwest. QA/QC inspector on structural steel projects (i.e., U.S. Army barracks for Alaska, Seattle hospital, hydroelectric power plant turbines). Duties include review fabricator's and subcontractor's QC programs, WPSs. PQRs, welder certifications and material test reports. Communicate with project engineers (i.e., NCRs, project status), monitor work, perform NDT (VT, UT, MT), final product inspection and complete projection documentation requirements (i.e., daily NDT reports, client updates).

March 2002 – November 2002: Employed by RAHCO, International, Spokane, Washington, as a QC/CWI Inspector. RAHCO specializes in mining, canal, farming and oil field equipment. Performed QC and inspection work (welding fit-up and paint) on fabricated custom mining, canal, farming, oil field and nuclear equipment. Review WPSs, monitored procedure qualification tests, tested welders and track welder qualification as per AWS or ASME requirements. Communicated with engineers and subcontractors (i.e., non-conformance reports, blueprint interpretations and revisions).

May 2000 – March 2002 - Self-employed in the agricultural and construction inspection industries.

July 1999 - May 2000 - Employed by Otto Rosenau & Associates, Inc., Seattle, Washington, as QA Supervisor in South Korea at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). Inspected fit-up, welding, surface preparation and paint coating performed by locals on the steel structure for the Seattle Convention Center and a California bridge project. Coordinated client requirements with Samsung and subcontractors QC programs and methods; monitored subcontractors. Maintained all necessary records, which required extensive computer use. Utilized MT, VT and UT methods of NDT as well as radiographic interpretation using the following codes: AWS D1.1, D1.5, ASTM, ASNT, ASME, Caltran, AREA, AISC, NACE and ISO 9000 and 9001.

April 1998 - July 1999 - Employed by Skagit Engineering & Manufacturing, Inc., Sedro Woolley, Washington, as fabrication supervisor/quality control inspector for a large fabrication shop. As supervisor of 20+ welders and fitters, my duties consisted of planning and tracking projects to completion (reviewing drawings, ordering materials, allocating manpower, supervising metal processing equipment and overseeing production and safety). As QC, I used MT, VT and PT methods of NDT and was responsible for welder qualification, inspecting and maintaining records on materials, workmanship and conformance to the applicable codes, plans and specifications of the project. I also maintained electronic records of any problems, changes and communications with project engineers and customers. Projects included aerospace equipment, logging equipment and oil refinery machinery. As QC inspector for Skagit, I instituted a successful welding QC program based on AWS D1.1 and ISO 9000, which resulted in cost savings for the company and timely completion of projects.

June 1997 – February 1998: Employed by Dyncorp, Reston, VA, as project supervisor of security upgrade and renovation on a U.S. government facility in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso using U.S. Army Corp of Engineers specifications. Duties included training locals in crafts required by the project; i.e., welding, carpentry, HVAC and electrical. Procuring material and ensuring work site safety. Create redline drawings and proper documentation for whole project. Keep client informed of project progress, material and labor shortages, work permits and local regulations.

April 1997 - June 1997: Re-employed as a welding foreman/inspector for IDC, Silver Springs, MD, supervising locals on an embassy renovation project in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Left because of reduction in force.

November 1996 - January 1997: Re-employed as a structural steel, re-bar and welding inspector for Cascade Testing Laboratories, Inc., Kirkland, WA.

September 1996 - November 1996: Welder/craft foreman for Morrison Knudson, on an embassy renovation project in Minsk, Belarus. Project completed.

June 1996 – August 1996: Welding foreman/inspector for Integrated Design & Construction, Inc., Silver Springs, MD, on an embassy reconstruction project in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Supervising erection and inspection of structural steel. Top Secret clearance.

April 1996 - June 1996: Structural steel, re-bar and welding inspector for Cascade Testing Laboratories, Inc., Kirkland, WA. Visual inspection of construction projects (commercial and industrial).

January 1996 - February 1996: Welding inspector for Fishermen's Boat Shop, Inc., Everett, WA. Inspection on U.S. Army Corp of Engineers dam project. Completed project.

August 1995 - December 1995: Welding supervisor/inspector for SOMC, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; instructed local military personnel using U.S. Army Corp of Engineers specifications. Welding inspector/NDT technician for military base. Contract completed.

May 1995 - July 1995: Welder/fitter for Greenway Enterprises, on an embassy renovation project in Madagascar. Top Secret clearance.

October 1994 - December 1994: Lead welder, fitter/inspector for Bill Harbert International Construction, Birmingham, AL, on an embassy construction project in Tel Aviv, Israel. Structural steel inspection. Top Secret clearance.

May 1994 - August 1994: Welding foreman/inspector for Integrated Design & Construction, Inc., Silver Springs, MD, on an embassy construction project in Santiago, Chile. Structural steel inspection. Project completed. Top Secret clearance.

May 1993 - April 1994: Project Supervisor/Welding Inspector for Greenway Enterprises, Inc., Helena, MT, on an embassy boiler installation project in Bucharest, Romania. Supervised Americans and foreign nationals, procured materials and tools from various countries and completed all necessary paperwork. Using ASME Sec. V, VII and IX criteria, trained, tested and certified qualified locals in GMAW and SMAW welding methods, established safety procedures, performed NDT and assured that the proper welding procedure specification was used. Project completed and transferred to Prague, Czech Republic to work on another embassy. Project completed. Top Secret clearance.

November 1992 - February 1993: Welding foreman/inspector for Integrated Design & Construction, Inc., Silver Springs, MD, on an embassy renovation project in Quito, Ecuador. Inspection of welds on structural steel and assuring proper welding procedure specification was used. Contract completed. Top Secret clearance with an S.B.I.

January 1992 - September 1992: Welder/fitter for Harbert, Intl., Birmingham, AL, primary contractor for construction of U.S. Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. Welding and erection of structural steel and pipe. Project completed. Secret clearance with an S.B.I.

June 1991 - January 1992: Welder/leadman for Barlows, Inc., Falls Church, VA, contractor on a shielding project--constructing U.S. Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. Contract completed. Secret clearance with an S.B.I.
