SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:
38 years old, Civil Chemical Engineer, three years of experience in the development of industrial applications for solvents, additives for lubricants and industrial gases. 7 years of experience in the development and production of polimers, thermoplastic and elastomeric mixes. 3 years of experience in operational activities in Chemical Mining Industry, including leaching process management, SX and special chemical process. Furthermore, i have to deal with local social contigencies, wide involment with local authorities, inspecting enteties, internal and external auditing companies, clients. Star up of new production plants, adaptation and robustment of current process thru continous improvement projects, leadership in terms of personnel changes in order to adjust to tecnologies and improvement opportunities.
To develop this activities it requieres flexibility to handle the growth and continous improvement, process approval from the fact that they come from diverse and divergents phylosophyies in time, changes in designs (formulas, processes, productive capacity, culture, etc), changes in behaviour and procedures of supervisors and operators, multilateral negotiation seeking for common goals. It also requires of effective and acertive communication skills, empathy, leadership and motivation.
My main skills are a long the lines of plant management (people and equipments), contract, quality, risks and environmental management and advanced English.
Currently my position is as Plant Superintendent, at SQM First Region Chile, my duties are to mantain production levels, exceed recovery rates, take care of the general and auxiliary equipment maintenance, overhead costs within budgets (600-700 MUSD/month), annual plant and capital budget, review and implement operational changes to improve recovery, reduce production costs, short and long term planning, compliance with local government regulations and permits requirements.
I´m regional responsable for the executive representation of the company, which involves social activities in conjuntion with the local and regional authoroties (local government entities, such as inspecting and regulating services, industrial organizations, mining companies, etc). One of the main activities is to show that our company has a multinational enterprise, with staff and productive instalations all over the world. Thus, it is requires to lead with clients as acknolodgment or auditing process from Japan, USA, and Europe in order to show our productive process and the technical, economical and environmetal advantage. (These presentations are done in English or Spanish)
Took part on the design of the new chemical plant – SX, leaching and solar steam ponds where new technologies were happlied. Leadering the commissioning and the start up of it. This plant and other installations, which it´s value ammounts to 90 MMUSD and demands the latest generation of fire figther systems. In fact, in order to implement this network we counted with our personnel plus we prepared additional work team in order to complete final personnel. Once the plant was build, and it took 2 days to put it to work and its integration to the rest of the process took less than two months. Currently i participate in the design and diffusion of the annual operational plan (Octuber = November of each year) as well as long term planning in process designs and environmental presentation to the local communities and authorities.
My main achivements have been my flexibility, in fact I have been recognized by my commintment towards the continous improvement of the business, also I have been recognized for successfully leadering the start up of the new plant.
I have been recognized by my commitment with the company, operacional budget management ( the error margen for the operational budget it is less than 5% and usually under the original value) and for continuos improvement projects. Oportune presentation of continous improvement projects, thank to a clear vision of the needs and pending defycencies. Due to this, I have a budget of 1-2 MMSUD/year, which is growing due to the good initial results to achieve cost reduction and rebustment of the process.
Sucessfully leadership of corporative risk managment, such as risk Managment Base on Conduct (this allows selfmanagment to operators level). Succefully development of operational excellence using graphics panels and team agreements. Operational Workshops to optimize procedures. Good results in the implementation of the Operational Risks Control Plan looking form zero harm and with excellent results (0 accident with loosed time).
