* Managing the amethyst mining business and key member of project team overseeing investment to develop mine from rock handling capacity of 300,000 tons to 2,000,000 tons per annum and also managing logistics required to implement the new mining plans including equipment acquisition, contract mining and budgeting
* Supervising, directing and monitoring control over a multi national work force of 400 workmen and mining executives.

Achievement:
* Spearheaded Management team in formulation of feasibility studies with Consultants and made significant contribution in the studies undertaken by Gemfields culminating in investment pledges from shareholder of US$ 6million over 12 months with objective of increasing profitability. Plan encompassed exploration, mine development, civil reconstruction and marketing strategies. Turnover expected to increase from US$2m to US$6million per year
* Faced with lack of investment in the Company due to the delays in full privatisation, been instrumental lead person in keeping the Company afloat through strategic plans.

Work Profile:

* Responsible as Mine Manager and Unit Head of the amethyst open pit mine with an excavation capacity 300.000 cubic meter of rock handling production and having 400 workers / staff and heavy mining equipment including Bulldozers, Front End Loaders, Dumpers and Washing Plant.
* Planning for Mine Capital Expenditure plans as well as Budgeting for the mine and responsible in keeping mine costs within targets
* Overall responsibility of entire mine operations of mining, grading, plant maintenance and mine security. Statutory mine responsibility in legal, environmental, health and safety of the entire operation under the Mines Act for period 1993 - 2003.

Achievements:
* Improved capacity utilization and implemented a number of cost saving measures leading to production above rated capacity and targets and also at reduced costs.

▪ Supervised expansion plan and successfully achieved growth in production of gems from annual capacity of 85,000 kg to 200,000 kg and translating into good Company profit results in period 2000 to 2003.

* Worked as Assistant Mine Manager with technical control of all mining operations of the amethyst mine as main responsibility. During this period the position of Mine Manager was vacant and I was basically the de-facto Mine Manager since statutory responsibilities of holder under the mining regulations were vested in me.
Responsibilities as outlined in my capacity as Mine Manager. Was promoted to Mine Manager position in 1996.

Achievements:
* Re-aligned the production process resulting in development and mining of key amethyst deposits thereby making mine meet and exceed its gem production capacity. This in a large part was responsible in increasing turnover from US$800,000 to US$1,500,000 per annum in a two year period and achieving profit.
