Duties included
* Construction of the plant from the PFD given
* Troubleshooting any problems that occurred during the start up of the process
* Undertaking routine tasks as directed by the team leader. Including taking of samples, preparing samples for assay, monitoring plant operating parameters, performing equipment maintenance tasks and performing housekeeping duties
* Maintaining and promoting a safe work environment via the completion of HAZOP studies and housekeeping audits.

Employed as an operator on a 2/1 FIFO roster, where I received training in the operation of the crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening and filtration circuits. Gained skills in the operation of machinery such as a front end loader, skid steer loader and bogger. Gained experience in the use of metallurgical accounting techniques, reporting results to the mill superintendent.

Undertook several metallurgical projects which included
* Investigation into the effect of changing to a high chrome grinding media
* Optimisation of a new scavenger feed tank
* Examination of the benefits of changing the cleaner and recleaner cells to Jameson cells
* Quantify the effect of the shotcrete has on the system
* Gold test work: strive to increase the recovery of the gold in the system by adding a jig circuit and study the effectiveness of extracting gold from the tailings dam
* Scrutinize the value of replace the thickener.

Responsibilities
* Maintain and improve the operating parameters as set out in the production budget, in a safe and economic manner
* Utilize historic and current operating procedures and data to determine improvements in production and reduce costs
* Investigate and recommend changes to current practice and equipment use
* Monitor and report plant data, usage, wear, consumption and stock levels of consumables relating to metallurgical laboratory functions
* Maintain and calibrate OSA, PMA, Marcy scales, laboratory scales and weightometers throughout the plant
* Prepare daily metallurgical reports for distribution
* Maintaining the integrity of the OSA and met office computers with regular servicing and backing up information
* Maintain concentrate production, truck, train shipment and stock records.

Activities Play several team sports such as cricket, hockey, rugby league and rugby union.
