Summary Experience
* Over 6 years experience in heavy industry, automated environments in the Production & Power Generation sectors with substantive Middle to Senior Management
* Project and maintenance work experience in power generation plant at 11kV and protection thereof, steam raising plant, 11kV and 33kV power reticulation and distribution, large power transformers up to 15MVA, AC motors up to 1000HP, DC motors and drives up to 500kW, power factor control equipment up to 1600KVA at 11KV, maximum demand and energy management systems, programmable logic control systems (PLC), SCADA systems, weighing systems, and general control systems. Electrical and Instruments systems designing. Budgeting (capital and annual) included. Extensive hands-on experience in the field of electrical and instrumentation.
* Maintenance experience of equipment such as conveyor systems (belt, bucket, chain & screw); water tube boilers with total steam MCR of 371 tph at 31 bar & 420°C; turbo-alternator sets with total generation capacity of 43 MW; pumps (centrifugal, gear, piston, screw, mono, diaphragm, liquid ring vacuum); power transmission systems, hydraulic & pneumatic systems; compressors; fans; heat exchangers; centrifugal separators and cyclones.
Hippo Valley Estates Ltd is a sugar cane grower, miller & power producer in the South Eastern Lowveld of Zimbabwe with an annual throughput of about 340,000 tons of raw, sun-sweet and refined sugars.
Electrical Services Engineer 01 Nov 2006 to present
Principal Accountabilities
1. Reporting to the Engineering Manager on electrical, instrumentation and air conditioning issues on the sugar mill and sugar cane estate.
2. Planning, scheduling and implementing daily, weekly and annual works planned shutdown maintenance programmes for all electrical, instrumentation and air conditioning installations which include high voltage substations, low voltage substations, a power station with six boilers and five turbo-alternators, various sizes and types of electrical motors and equipment, and PLC SCADA controls.
3. Responsibility for Electrical Power Reticulation (Generation, Cogeneration, Load shedding and sanctioning of 11KV and 33KV switching)
4. Operation of the Power Station with 5 turbo-alternator sets: ensuring energy efficiency optimization.
5. Responsibility for all associated electrical monitoring, control and protection equipment for the above systems
6. Monitoring of plant performance on daily basis, investigating, reporting any relevant stoppages and making the appropriate remedial actions
7. Electrical, Instruments and air conditioning projects management.
8. Preparation of annual budgets for the electrical, instruments and air-conditioning departments both normal maintenance and capital.
9. Direct control of the electrical services department which comprises of two section Engineers, Graduate Trainees, two electrical foreman, one instruments foreman, one refrigeration charge hand, five instrument technicians, ten electricians, two refrigeration technicians, semi-skilled workers and apprentices
10. Keeping track of expenditure in line with budgets
11. Monitoring stores stock levels
12. Management of external contractors providing electrical, instrumentation and air conditioning services to the company.
13. Operation of the Power Station 5 turbo-alternator sets: ensuring energy efficiency optimization.
14. Keeping track of all stores withdrawals and direct purchases effected through the Electrical, Instrumentation and refrigeration departments, to find out areas of high expenditure, and ensure compliance to budgets.
15. Use of Ellipse business management systems software for managing finance, materials, human resources and maintenance aspects.
16. Staff recruitment, development and subordinates training.
17. Control of contract labour.
18. Implementing & maintaining IS014001, OHSAS18001 & NOSA safety, health & environment management systems
19. Compiling the monthly energy usage reports.
20. Compiling monthly electrical services plant maintenance and performance reports.

Principal Accountabilities
1. Reporting to the Engineering Manager.
2. Managing Planned Maintenance Department, Drawing Office, Boilershop and Machineshop providing mechanical engineering services to the factory and Estate.

Principal Accountabilities
1. Process operation of the sugar factory (Milling, Processing, and Power Station)
2. Maintenance of sugar factory equipment, which include, water tube steam boilers, steam turbines, conveyor systems, compressors, mills, pumps, and gearboxes.
