I am presently the Executive Manager for a large complex operation managing multi sites. My success is based on strong interpersonal and communications skills. I have a proven track record in leadership, people management, project/asset management and process transformation. I am looking to acquire a role of General Manager Operations.
Proven track record in achieving ambitious goals
An example of an ambitious goal was to project manage a major mine expansion and redevelopment, including the purchase and operation of a new complete longwall mining package for Austral Coal. The next ambitious goal was to manage the total operation and transform a mine with outdated and ineffective practices and customs into a modern, efficient and successful operation.

Change Management
I was responsible for the identification, introduction and management of a major change program at Austral Coal's Tahmoor Colliery. The change program involved major restructuring throughout the organization, a major change in the overall culture of the operation and most importantly a substantial improvement in performance.

I have been actively involved with the establishment of new operations; this has included the selection, recruiting and training of personnel from operator to management level and the development of enterprise agreements.

I have successfully managed individual contracts in excess of 65 million dollars and in the majority of my roles have been responsible for operating and maintenance budgets in excess of 150 million dollars

Interpersonal, Negotiation and Communication Skills
I have demonstrated the ability to communicate with people at all levels. I use a consultative approach ensuring best alignment of people to tasks and goals. I have strong negotiation skills covering areas such as employee coaching and counseling, contract management and union disputations.
My role requires communication regularly with people from Managing Director level to equipment operators. My experience and background provides me with the skills necessary to obtain respect in all levels of an organization. This has been earned by consistent and genuine mutual respect.

Project Management
A major initiative was to manage the Tahmoor North project with Austral Coal at Tahmoor Mine, this was a major mine expansion valued at approximately 180 million dollars and basically consisted of supplying a new mine within an existing infrastructure. This created some challenging issues as the existing mine had to continue to operate whilst the new plant and equipment was installed.

Engineering and Maintenance Management
I have established complete maintenance management systems for new operations and also introduced new and improved methodologies to existing mines.
Operations Management
I have managed complex multi site operations with success through a balanced approach ensuring world class standards in health safety and environment, management and development of people, continuous improvement in operational efficiency and finance management.

1. Operation for the processing, storage and shipping of mineral. All infrastructure which provides services to a town of approximately 15,000 people.
2. Major dredging, earth works and rehabilitation operation

BHPBilliton 07/05 – 07/07 Engineering and Maintenance Manager To manage all Engineering and Maintenance activities in a major, complex underground mine. I managed an intensive capital investment program and major changes to the operation during my employment. The mine was rundown and performing poorly, it is now recognised as a leading operation in terms of standards and performance.
Austral Coal 2002-2005 Operations Manager Managed a major mine expansion at Tahmoor Colliery in NSW with a value of $160M. This included a new Long wall mining system, development plant, conveyor systems, electrical supply and processing plant.
Managed the operation and transformed a mine with poor standards and operating practices into a modern efficient operation
Roche Mining 2001 - 2002 Mechanical Engineer in Charge Roche had been awarded a contract for the establishment and construction of a new underground mine. The project was there first experience with an underground coal mine; I was requested to join them for the contract. I managed the construction, procurement of equipment and engineering activities associated with the development of a new mine.
Ulan Coal Mines 1996 - 2001 Engineering and Maintenance Manager Managed all engineering and maintenance activities of a large existing mining operation
United Colliery 1991 - 1996 Plant Manager/Mechanical Engineer in Charge Managed the processing plant, all engineering and maintenance activities associated with the establishment of a new mining operation.
