Acting Principal Exploration Geologist (Gold) Oceana Gold NZ Ltd. Dec 2007 – Jun 2008 Key Role: To discover additional gold resources in the Macraes and Reefton Goldfields through leadership of exploration teams and implementation and management of robust exploration strategies. Responsibilities: Provided leadership of the exploration teams and specific supervision and coaching of the Project Geologists. Facilitate and supervise the implementation and completion of exploration programmes and regularly report on progress to senior management. Provide specific technical advice to development and production teams, as required. Provide technical review of exploration programmes as proposed by Project Geologists, and recommend for approval to the Development Manager. Act as Principal's Representative for drilling contracts and other contracts as required. Provide accurate and timely exploration information for statutory company reporting, stock exchange reports and media statements. Maintain exploration permit portfolio and ensure all statutory requirements are fulfilled. Oversee safety incident investigations and ensure implementation of controls. Coordinate and review procedures for the safe and effective exploration work programmes. Identify and facilitate training requirements of the exploration team members. Recruit exploration team members, as required. Prepare annual budgets, forecasts and operating plans as required. Monitor exploration expenditure and regularly report status to senior management. Monitor activity of competitors and identify business threats or opportunities that may exist as a result of these activities. Undertake project appraisals and make recommendation to senior management regarding JV opportunities. Project Exploration Geologist (Gold) Oceana Gold NZ Ltd. (formerly GRD) 2004 – Nov 2007 Key Role: Leading the Exploration team at the Reefton Gold Project conducting helicopter supported drilling campaigns, and working up future regional exploration programs. Responsibilities: Supervision of drilling contractors, exploration geologists and field crew. Liaison with land owners (Department of Conservation) and local councils. Ensuring work programs comply with strict access and consent conditions. Liaison with suppliers. Ensuring health and safety awareness, training and auditing complies with company standards. External reporting to government standards. Training contract geologists. Quality control management on all aspects of sampling. Active participation in all aspects of helicopter supported drilling programs from conception. Maintenance of exploration data base (Acquire). Competent use of GIS software package (Map Info). Drill hole design and resource modelling using 3D software package (Minesight). Liaison with resource geologist and development team on resource delineation and extension exploration. Exploration Geologist (Gold) GRD Macraes Limited. 2000 - 2004 Key Role: Drill campaign design and supervision at the Macraes and Reefton gold projects. Responsibilities: Successesful targeting of deep drilling programs (400 – 700m Diamond drill holes). Quality control of sampling and drill hole data. External reporting to Government standards. Drilling contractor liaison and supervision. Contract geologists and field crew supervision. Land owner liaison. Earthworks contractor liaison. Data analysis. Core geological and geotechnical logging. Enforcing health and safety awareness and conducting incident investigations where required. Flotilla Engineer/ Skipper Setsail Holidays, Croatia. Late 1999 Key Role: Position as Engineer (2 months) and Skipper (2 weeks) on a 32 ft lead yacht based in the Adriatic Sea on the coast of Croatia. The lead yacht provided full time support for a flotilla of up to ten 31 to 42 ft yachts on two week cruises on the Dalmatian coastline.
