February 2009
As a graduated Professional Chemical Engineer I have many years project engineering experience and this in a number of positions and countries.
I am on the lookout for a new opportunity to challenge my skills and I understand that you may have some relevant positions available. Although I gained most of my experience in the petrochemicals industries I am open to other challenges like those found in the Oil and Gas, Water and Alternative Energy industries.
Currently I am appointed as Operations Manager for a company designing, marketing and installing recreational and wellness concepts in the south of Portugal. My principle function is to plan assignments of installations and refurbishments for exclusive home, hotel and resort projects. Furthermore I liaise a great deal between all stakeholders, but I also do some technical design and troubleshooting.
However, having grown up in South Africa and after living many years in Portugal, my wife and I still do not feel settled into the European way of life. For one there is the frequent indoors weather and for another there is the disparity between the European schooling system and our expectations for our two sons, aged 12 and 16. Add to this the sparse opportunities for process engineers in the area where we live, and it compels us to find a place we can truly call home.
During our travels my family and I have experienced many climes and cultures and after our Australian holiday over Christmas and New Year recently, we all agreed to move to Australia, preferably to Brisbane or Perth.
What is important to me is to find a stable employment and friendly environment like that experienced in Brisbane. My wife has studied the Australian schooling system and we have decided that our sons should attend a school offering the IB system, such as several schools do in and around Brisbane and Perth.
My conditions for employment are a market related package and that the position should not be predominately away from home. Relocation and residency assistance are a near prerequisite.
I can offer you excellent project engineering skills, considering my diverse background, including senior management experience. I have always worked in multicultural environments, which has better helped me to understand and manage the diversities within new assignments.
