Working in Metallurgical and Engineering consultant Ltd. (MECON Limited), an ISO-9001 accredited company and a Government of India Enterprise under the Ministry of Steel, as a premier multi-disciplinary planning, design, engineering, consultancy and contracting organization in India providing its services in the area of ferrous and non-ferrous metals projects.
Presently, working as a Project (Design) Engineer in Non-ferrous (Aluminum, copper, Zinc metal etc.) division since Jan`06 and associated in Aluminium Smelter & its downstream Projects.

* B.E. (Metallurgy) in 1998 from I.I.T. Roorkee (Previously University of Roorkee, 75.0 %, Honours.
* Post Graduate Diploma Management in ¡* Production Management¡¨ in 2005, in first class form AIIMS, Chennai.
* Post Graduate Diploma Management in ¡* Total Quality Management (TQM) & ISO: 9000¡¨ in 2007, first class form AIIMS, Chennai.

PRESENT COMPANY - JOB NATURE

As a Project Design Engineer in Non-Ferrous division the job responsibilities involves:

- Technology sourcing and selection
- Review of Basic Engineering, equipments & technical data
- Process Design & detail engineering
- Development of Process Flow Diagram (PFD, BFD & MSD)
- Detailed Energy/Material Balance Calculation
- Finalization / Development of Plant General & Shop layout
- Equipment Sizing & Selection
- Preparation of Technical Specifications (TS) for tendering & evaluation
- Co-ordination with other Detailed engineering sections & client
- Assistance in Commissioning & Post commissioning services
- Preparation of Feasibility Report (FR), DFR & (TEFR).

PREVIOUS COMPANY- JOB NATURE

Worked in Hindalco Industries Ltd. a global Primary aluminium metal producer. Presently, Annual production capacity is 4,32,000 tones, an ISO-9002, ISO-14001 & OHSAS-18001 certified company. Fully conversant with Aluminium smelter plant especially with Pot-room & Rodding Shop, Billet/Slab casting operation/production.
As a Process Engineer/ Room in-charge in Aluminium smelter plant (Pot-room), where Primary Aluminium metal produced. Major Job responsibility was -

ƒ{ Monitoring and control of process parameters, pertaining to electrolytic reduction of Alumina to Aluminium in order to achieve maximum Current and Energy efficiency for Aluminium production.

ƒ{ Bath Ratio control, Pot Voltage setting, Metal pad, Bath depth/level, Bath Temperature maintaining in optimum range and minimizing Anode-effect, Search/track time, Noise level/value and other pot abnormalities for maximizing metal purity & current efficiency.

ƒ{ Planning/Scheduling/Forecasting of Production, monthly target setting of all Pot/cell control parameters.

ƒ{ Product Quality control and necessary co-ordination & planning to fulfill internal/external customer's specification/requirement.

ƒ{ Identification of opportunities to reduce production cost by using the concept of Cost of Quality (COQ) by various energy saving & material handling projects.

ƒ{ Implementation of TPM/WCM, Six-Sigma, 5¡¦S, Kaizen, JIT, Quality-Circle, Safety, Autonomous maintenance activities with the help of small Group to improve the work environment, productivity & waste minimization.

ƒ{ Continuous improvement & development of standard operating practices (SOP) as per the ISO - 9000 & 14001.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

* Developed various types of handling equipment, Modify the Job practices for better and smooth working to improve productivity.

* Trainer for various types of training program (TPM, WCM/TQM etc) in Hindalco.

* Energy saved by providing slots in anodes and increasing stub diameters.

* Improved bath-ratio control by sampling in non-working zone & mechanization of AlF3 charging in pots.

* Improvement in hooding efficiency to reduce AlF3 consumption.

* Production of high purity metal Al >=99.85% in few selected pots by modifying operating practices.
